I was considering it, since I've been craving a fantasy RPG lately and Dragon Age apparently won't be out until the end of the year. Then I heard that you can't customise your character appearance at all, so I'm not so keen on it. I know that probably sounds silly to some people, but if I'm going to role-play a character that I create from the very start, then I want to customise more than just their stats. It's kind of hard to feel like it's your own character if you only control some aspects of it. That didn't matter so much in the days of isometric views, where you could barely tell what your character looks like, but when you see them interacting close-up it ruins it if they look ridiculous.

So, is that true? You just take what they give you for characters basically or do you at least have some choice in appearance?

It is quite true - there is no customizing of the character's initial appearance. You have about 12 character class/race combos all preset that you can choose from (24 if you include clicking the FEMALE icon which gives you some unique female characters, that aren't available as males, such as the Amazons and such).

I am with you on customizing characters though. It's one of my favorite things. About any game, not just RPGs.

But think of this as a highly advanced QUEST FOR GLORY game with so much detail about the gods, and how they all play a part, and with a ton of quests, and a ton of NPCs to interact with and...

And really. 29 bucks on Amazon.

Can you REALLY afford to pass it up?

Actually, I can pass it up right now, since we just bought Mass Effect. :D I can customise like crazy!

You're right though. Considering that's it's release price, that's a pretty good deal. Plus, having lots of NPCs to interact with is always a good thing.

It really is fun.

And MASS EFFECT eh... Trust me - forsake whatever life you thought you had. You will, if you're like me, become OBSESSED with MASS EFFECT. Did you purchase it for the PC or XBOX360?

I wish I had a backup of my personal forum where I went on for pages and pages and pages about the greatness of MASS EFFECT...

EDIT: There's a MASS EFFECT thread here. :)

Yes, I'm resurrecting this really old thread to say that I've bought Drakensang for an incredibly cheap price. I needed a break from Dragon Age - two completed playthroughs of both the main game and the expansions, plus four others at various stages - and right now I wasn't in the mood to complete Mass Effect 2... but the game is really disappointing.

Chances are that Dragon Age spoiled me, but no appearance customization, clunky controls, messy interface, lack of full voice acting, sometimes clumsy writing, lackluster plot... I may as well play Mass Effect 2!

I disliked the controls too... I actually didn't get too far in the game before other games side tracked me from it.
