Like Rath, I was gone for 2 weeks...

It's odd that Rath and I both flew out almost the same exact day, and returned the same exact day (I got back late last night). I was in India (Hyderabad)... the heat and humidity there was... intense.

But we did get to out a few times, and I got some pretty amazing photos.

My liver is going to thank me, because in the course of 2.5 weeks, I drank more rum and cokes in that short duration, than I probably do in two years total.

While resting in the Dungeon room; Indians came up to me and asked to take selfies and photos with me because I was American. I must have taken my photo with 60 different people. I took some of them, since they were kind enough to take some with me.

Those are the eyes of bats. I loved this area. If I was wearing actual shoes and not flip flops I would have gone in deeper; but the smell of guano was strong, and I was worried I'd slip...

The Charminar - stands for four towers. Imagine a swap meet with THOUSANDS of people crammed together so you can barely move. Now imagine cars and motorcycles and mopeds just driving through all of that madness? That was this. Especially during Ramadan - which is their holy fasting thing - and the peak of this madness.

I joked that this was the album cover for me and Merlin (my co-worker in the photos with me) metal album.

Wonderful pictures, Tawm. I particularly like the shots of the Charminar - I've seen that place before several times. :)

I need to rest and recharge a bit before I can put up some photos of my own. The flight there was nearly 36 hours, and the flight back was 26 hours (with hardly any sleep)... so I am mightily jetlagged. Not a good feeling when you want to go to bed in the middle of the day. :(

I will give it that - India has some beautiful places. The weather makes it rough to go see it (we were near a place called The 7 Tombs, when we were near the fort, but after the hike up to the fort, we were - no joke - soaked in sweat... our clothes were as wet as if we had been sitting in a pool for hours wearing them)... so we opted to return to the hotel and shower, and crash out... We never made it back around to the 7 Tombs.

Thank you! Charminar was amazing; but the drive there (we had the hotel drive us) was intense. It was 20 miles away, but took 1.5 hours to get to, because traffic does not move. And in India, the lanes on the road are senseless; because where I am used to motorcycles splitting lanes in California, in India, cars do it too. If you can fit your vehicle, whether it be motorcycle, scooter, bicycle, car, bus or even truck - between any space on the road, it's apparently 100% legal to try... and everyone honks - non stop - non freaking stop - all the time, all hours into the night (I was on the 19th floor of my hotel and heard cars honking all night, into 3am...)

So, while there's so much I'd like to see - and had a good experience, over all, there's no way I'd probably go back again, on my own, if work wasn't paying to send me. :(

I understand the jet lag, too. Our flight back was 28 hours. :(
But to be fair, I did fly business class. So there was some comfort there.
