(I VGA) Cannot get into Henry the Hermit's cave!

Hello! I am playing the first Quest for Glory game, VGA version, downloaded from GOG.com. I am a magic user.

I am attempting to get into Henry the Hermit's cave, which is right by the waterfall. I use the "open" spell, which opens the cave door, but Henry just says "'ello?", and then shuts the door and goes back inside. No matter how many times I try opening the door with the spell, he will never come out and let me inside.

Am I doing this right? Is there some other way to get in the cave? I can't climb or throw, so I'm assuming that I'm doing the right thing by using the spell. My expertise level for the spell is 40, so I think it's definitely high enough (and it already lets me open the door, its just that I can't get into the cave).

I believe (if I remember correctly) you can also throw rocks at the door...

Yeah, I just didn't have any points in climbing, so I couldn't do that. Anyways, thanks for replying everyone!

Which makes me think - is there any one class in QFG1 that you can pick - and have enough points to have a point in everything?

I don't believe so. I think that you always run out of enough points that there is always at least a couple of skills that can't be added. Climbing is one of the ones that mages do not automatically have.

Thieves can do everything. Just give them magic and parry, and you can do everything there is to do.
