New Double Fine Adventure via Kickstarter

Post by gat » Thu Feb 09, 2012 1:34 pm

For those of you who fondly remember the old Lucas Arts games, Tim Schafer (and Ron Gilbert) are going the kickstarter route to raise funds to create a new adventure game. The link to the kickstarter campaign is http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/667 ... -adventure, and they have already reached their funding goal. Donating $15 gets you access to the completed game (on Steam), as well as access to videos chronicling the production process. Donating greater amounts gets you additional benefits/gifts.

They'd already doubled their expected amount in a day. They have 33 days left.

Not long to go now until the kickstarter closes. I am very excited to see where this project goes. If nothing else, it has shown the world that there is still demand for adventure games.

A shame Al Lowe couldn't have done this with Sam Suede before iBase tanked, then Apogee picked it up w/out Al Lowe.

I would have surly donated to get Sam Suede with Al Lowe on it.

So... Sam Suede will also live on without the original developer? What's up with Activision and Apogee snubbing Al like this? That's just bad word-of-mouth waiting to happen.

I'm not sure if Kickstarter alone would have funded a 3D GTA-style game like Sam Suede, but if were feasible with Al at the helm, I'd donate as well.
