GK1 Playable Demo

From Akril's Sierra's Resource Files I learn now of the existence of a slightly different GK1 playable demo which feature day 1.

The link provided didn't lead to anything, so I wonder if there is a place where to download the demo even today. I'm so curious!

Hrm, I'd be surprised if it wasn't on the Collection, or GK2 or GK3... at work so I can't check myself.

EDIT: I downloaded the demo but I can't run it neither with DOSBox or VDM. When I try, I'm prompted with this string:

Couldn't install video driver!
Script #: 0, IP: 0

If I try to install the demo, it says to me: error creating configuration file

I scarcely ever bother googling elsewhere in relation to Sierra games. I tend to head immediately to Collector's pages.

Hmm... the solution to your problem, Andreadraco, might be this:

Run INSTALL.EXE and select EGA/VGA with RGB monitor - 16 colors. Also, be sure that the game's folder has the file EGA320.DRV in it.

I'm quoting from the Vogons forum, which I DID find by googling - and the irony here is... that... Collector posted this information! It might be relevant to the error message "Couldn't install video driver!".

Make sure the resource.cfg file isn't write protected if you keep getting that "error creating config file" message.

Is this the same GK1 demo from the Sierra Sneak Peaks demo CD?

I'm curious if this is the same demo that was brought up on the VU forums a while back. I hosted it on my server space so everyone could download it back then. Is it the same one?

It appears to be. Most of the demos that I have came from CDs from other games that I have, Sierra's FTP and from Brian Provinciano's neglected Ultimate AGI & SCI Web Site from when you used to be able to download from it.
