Re: Dragon Age II
I can't say I am too interested if this is legit...
EDIT: It's obviously legit. Because its on XBL. But I mean the story elements for the DLC.

Re: Dragon Age II
Although Tawmis forgot to mention it, this DLC is also available on the PC.
That said, I feel this DLC is a disappointment. If I want items and weapons with different abilities -- including new skins -- I can easily do that myself.

True, but you chose to post that article. You could've easily found one that talked about the PC as well.Tawmis wrote:I didn't fail to mention it. The article I got it from failed to mention it.DeadPoolX wrote:Although Tawmis forgot to mention it, this DLC is also available on the PC.

Re: Dragon Age II
Aside from the fact that the new mage set is pretty awesome, I don't think I'll buy this DLC. I wanted something story-related, not some items that force me to replay the entire game to enjoy.

Re: Dragon Age II
http://www.examiner.com/pc-game-in-chic ... agon-age-2
If you're one of the many Chicago PC gamers who went to your local Chicagoland Gamestop for the midnight launch of EA/Bioware's Dragon Age 2 back in March, and felt a bit let down by the changes made to the series, well, you aren't alone in that thought. EA recently admitted to a divide amongst the series fans with all the "unnecessary" changes made in Dragon Age 2 from the original title.
In an interview with Eurogamer, EA Games boss Frank Gibeau said that EA understood that some of its fans weren't happy with the direction that Dragon Age 2 took, and that the company was disappointed over that fact. He also said that EA and BioWare were very proud of the game, and the fact that it brought a lot of new fans to the franchise.
However, other, long(er) time fans obviously had a different opinion of the title.
Tanner Bussi of Chicago had this to say, "The first game is an all time favorite of mine. Reminds me of Baldur's Gate [a PC RPG developed by BioWare over a decade ago] but the sequel was kinda a mess. You're locked in one city the whole time, the story is dragged out, and none of the characters are all that memorable. The only real thing DA2 has over DA:O is the combat. It's a bit better, but not enough so that the game gets any merits."
EA's Gibeau, on the other hand, had this to say in the company's defense, "[But] to be honest, we lost some fans as well. They were not pleased with some of the innovations and things we'd done. We understand that and we're listening."
The company promises to take fan feedback for the up coming Dragon Age 3.
"As we think about where we take the franchise next, we're going to take that into consideration and really engage them," Gibeau said.
"Ray [Muzyka] and Greg [Zeschuk] have built a long career being close to their fanbase and understanding what they want. If they do something in a direction that is innovative and fresh for some but not for others, they'll take that into consideration as we think about the next design and where the game goes from here."
Hear that? EA will be listening.

Re: Dragon Age II
DA2 had a lot of flaws, but I liked the story or at least, how it was presented. The storyline felt more personal and less like a typical fantasy epic.
I also thought that the way you interact with your party members was a lot better in DA2 than in DA:O. In DA2, the characters were more "alive" and it felt like they had lives beyond your mission.
While I'm not against BioWare making changes for DA3, I hope they keep some elements from DA2 the same and I don't just mean the combat.

Re: Dragon Age II
I am curious - have you completed DA2 more than once?
I started a rogue (for my second play through), and never finished. Never even think back and say I should finish.
DA2 was fine, first time around. But for me it's missing something.

Re: Dragon Age II
I really think that its story was superior to the first game's. And the companions were interesting, well-rounded and believable. Many quests were very rewarding and satisfying.
However, the plot was pretty inconsistent. The companions' interaction was a bit stilted, at times (especially with your siblings). Many quests were incredibly dull, the finale was pretty disappointing and there isn't a single choice in the game that really, really matters. And yes, the second time around (I am too playing a Rogue) this new talent trees, while offering many exciting possibilities, start to feel way too clunky. Not to mention that the filler combat is, during a second playthrough, a tiresome chore.
All in all, I'd rate DA2 B+, but I agree with Tawmis. I have almost no interest in replaying it and the only thing I hope they keep for DA3 is the setting (Thedas) and theme (Templars vs. Mages escalating war).

Re: Dragon Age II
http://www.neoseeker.com/news/16561-dra ... rovements/
A recent post on the BioWare Social Network brings word of the latest Dragon Age II patch that should make plenty of people happier -- or just less ornery. The gameplay changes look substantial, especially in terms of combat improvements.
Patch 1.03 entered certification a few days ago, meaning it'll be ready for PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 versions of Dragon Age II. According to BioWare's Luke Barret, the patch addresses over 200 issues folks have been experiencing, including one major problem that has prevented some PC users from being able to launch the game.
In terms of combat, the enemy AI have been given an overall boost. Commander units are now smarter than before, tossing out stun grenades while influencing other enemies to focus fire on single targets. If you're sick of constantly having to micromanage your own team due to constant interrupts, the patch aims to mitigate that issue as well, though silence effects and disruption to stealth have also been "beefed up a little." At least you won't need to spam the Quick Heal option repeatedly now and hope Fenris doesn't forget to drink up.
Enemies should also be exploding a whole lot less thanks to the patch. Because really, seeing every mabari and zombie pop in a shower of blood and gore just got weird after the tenth or twentieth time.
If you own the game for Xbox 360, you should be prompted to download the update the next time you log in. The PC release should be coming soon, and the PS3 version is expected some time next week.

Re: Dragon Age II
I haven't played this in months because I was fed up with the import problems and hoped they'd fix it. I keep reading that certain quests work now or could work with mods, but then read other people saying they don't get the quests. Is it now safe to remove the companion mods that fix Isabella/Sebastian friendship/rivalry stat bonuses?
