Alpha Protocol

I bought this game today and I just finished the long and very thorough tutorial. So far so good. Graphics are nice, voice acting is good, story seems intriguing and, even if the gameplay is sometimes clumsy, the game is actually pretty fun.

Does anyone else have played it? It's from Obsidian Entertainment, which I believe at least one forumite knows pretty well ;) And the story has been penned by Chris Avellone, the mind behind Panescape: Torment.

I was going to wait and see what people thought of it before I picked it up!

So my eye is on this thread.

Yeah, I bought it too, but the game won't keep any changes I've made to it in the menu. So no matter what I change, it'll revert back to the defaults.

That makes the game just about unplayable and I'm really ticked off. I got it for a good deal while it was on sale on Steam (on one of those major one-day sales, not just the "normal" sales during the holidays), but even so, it's virtually worthless to me now. :Furious:

What makes this even worse is that NO ONE ELSE seems to have this problem. I've looked all over different message boards (including the official AP forums) and while there are plenty of bugs, none of them are about my issues.

Have you tried to run it with elevated privileges, at least long enough to make your changes?

I don't know WHY or HOW this happened, but I've apparently got the options to save and stick that way. What's weird is that the options didn't save until after I'd been playing a little longer tonight. And I don't mean play, quit and play later -- I mean in the same session.

Odd, huh? :?

I'm playing it. It's pretty tedious and disappointing for me. But I'll keep trying to play through it. Wish there were more RPG elements. One annoyance is that the game stutters a lot, probably from loading new areas in the background. And for some reason it messes with the camera and makes me disoriented. Maybe the game would be more fun if I didn't care about stealth and just killed everyone.
