What games are you looking forward to in 2011?

Since the New Year is almost upon us, I've been thinking about a number of games that are slated for release in 2011. There are probably more games coming out in 2011 that I'm really looking forward to than in any other year for quite some time. They are:

• Deus Ex: Human Revolution
• Portal 2
• Dragon Age 2
• Grey Matter
• Back to the Future (as a whole)
• Mass Effect 3 (?)

I'm especially looking forward to Human Revolution because it's been a while since the last Deus Ex game and I love the near-future settings they use. It seems like it will be covering some interesting concepts in the introduction of human augmentation and the social/political implications for the human race. (That sounds like an essay title.) Plus, not only it will have the usual action and stealth options for dealing with obstacles and completing quests, but also a social option. I'm really interested in seeing how that's implemented. I imagine it will be through choice of the correct dialogue options and possibly interpersonal side-quests.

How about everyone else? What are you looking forward to the most?

Of them all, surprisingly, it is Gears of War 3 that I am looking forward to the most. I could probably also list The Old Republic the Star Wars MMO Bioware is doing... but since I am playing Lord of the Rings Online... and it's free... I don't think I can go back to paying a monthly bill for an MMO... even if it is by Bioware.

Definitely the rest of "Back of the Future," and I'll be saving the rest of my Best Buy gift card for "Mass Effect 3." Much like "God of War," the ME series has become something epic that now makes me want to buy the third one as soon as it comes out.

Since Gearbox took up DNF, they've been saying that it's definitely coming in 2011 and they're not known for pushing their games back. They've got a good rep. It'll happen.

All of these games are on my radar, but not all equally. That's why Diablo 3 isn't rated as high as Portal 2, but I'm still interested in both.

Having said that, I understand what you meant, Rath. You haven't played DA:O yet, so in that context, it's a game you're looking forward to playing in 2011.

And yes... I haven't played AC:B or F3 yet... despite owning both an Xbox 360 and a PS3. I prefer gaming on my computer since I built my gaming rig in May, so both of my consoles are feeling rather lonely.

DA2 will be the RPG that holds me over until either TOR or GW2 comes out (right now I'm playing Vindictus, which is ok.... but it's no TOR or GW2). And then of course... ME3 will be what I ring in the new year with (since that will surely be my xmas gift for 2011).

And D3 should be out in 2011... but knowing Blizzard, there's a 75% chance it might not be released in 2011 at all... so bleh. Now that Duke Nukem Forever is finally coming out (as someone else said, Valve is pretty good at sticking to their word), that makes D3 the new vaporware of the decade.

Alas, I can't afford to pay a fee every month to play it, and that's why I would have preferred a full-fledged Knights of the Old Republic III
