New Incinerations Trailer

Post by Datadog » Sun Dec 19, 2010 1:32 am

Hey, all! I've been working on this game for a while now and I thought I'd share my progress in the form of a shiny new trailer! The game and story are inspired by a lot of modern sci-fi video games - like Halo, Mass Effect, Half-Life, and Starcraft (as well as Space Quest) so I thought I'd post it here for your thoughts.

Click here to see the exciting new trailer! Hurray!

The actual progress of the game is something like this:

Script/Programming: 95% (lots of debugging, polishing, and adding to do)
Cut-scenes: 95% (over 40 minutes of video so far!)
Sprites/Graphics: 95%
Music/Sound: 15%
Clean-Up: 2%

So there's still quite a lot left to be done - especially in the music department since I'm terrible at writing music. So I will be recruiting musicians soon enough to get the rest of this game off the ground.
Box of Mystery, Adventure Games, Cartoons, Books and more!

Dude, that's an amazing trailer... Only thing is... With the Space Questy music (tell me that's not Space Quest!) and then a blond hero... with a mop... I think a lot of people are going to see a very strong tie to Space Quest! I did like the Halo reference (the gun) as well as plenty of Star Wars like reference. :)

Two thumbs up .. Very cool.. Looking forward to it very much!

And Tawmis, as I recall DD did start it as a space quest fan-game, but then "somewhat" went his own direction ... that's the incomplete-sentence-paraphrase of what I think I read a while back, at least...

Even though I am bored to tears of cartoony game graphics, if the in game art and animation are anywhere near as good it will be stunning. I think one of the biggest reasons that I dislike the cartoony style is because it is too often a cop out by people who have little artistic talent. It is obvious that that is not the case here. I am impressed. Any chance of a small demo at some point to get a feel for game play?

Datadog, the trailer is really amazing! The animations are impressively smooth and the facial expression incredibly well-done: I'm already fond of the dark-haired woman with the glasses! Her expression at the end of the trailer is priceless!

Awesome, awesome job!

Really? Because this was based on my real-life experience as a blond janitor. In outer space. And that music? Must be a total coincidence. I can see how people and software company lawyers could make that kind of reasonable misunderstanding. Ah, isn't life funny?

Funny thing is, there's only two direct SW references in that whole trailer. Most of everything else loosely references other movies which were probably referencing SW in the first place.

No chance of a demo right away, but the game-play itself is not much more different than, say, KQ6. You have four cursors, an inventory window, talking heads in boxes, and everything in the background can be clicked on. At some point in the future, I might release a short demo or video play-through of the first ten minutes.

The bad guy looks like Darth Maul to some degree... and the fight scenes looked like standard Star Wars light sabre battles.

Datadog, that is SO COOL! It looks like it took a long time to put all that together. Good luck with the demo! I definitely want to play it!
