Lost Horizon

Post by DeadPoolX » Thu Sep 30, 2010 3:11 pm

I don't know if you guys have heard about this game, but there's a new Adventure out called Lost Horizon.

It looks pretty good and takes place in 1939. The game's atmosphere reminds me a lot of the Indiana Jones movies and games. It's also one of the very few modern Adventure games where the protagonist is male. This is a pure point-and-click Adventure game; any action present would probably be no more or less than what was in the old Sierra and LucasArts titles.

I don't know if LH will be sold in stores. So for those of you who dislike Steam, you'll either have to wait and see what happens or just get it on Steam.

The normal Steam price is $19.99 USD. Right now there's a small 10% sale on it, reducing the price to $17.99 USD. There's also demo, so you can test it out.

Maia and I haven't tried LH yet, but we'll definitely give the demo a shot. :)

You can get it from:

www.interactcd.com (US)
www.play.com (UK)

The only problem I see with Interact is they're selling LH for $29.99 USD. Contrast that with Steam's normal price of $19.99 or their current sale price of $17.99.

I suppose there's a trade-off for choosing Steam or not. Maia and I are on a tight budget right now, so Steam's lower prices seem more important than being able to play without Steam itself. That might not be a concern for some of you, however.

Right, I'm one of the lucky ones, that only have myself to care for and as such never lack money - I'm "RICH" ;)
But seriously, I'd rather pay a little more, than use Steam :)

What I meant was, like you said, you'd rather pay more in order to bypass Steam. For Maia and I, who like Steam (and the lower price available there), we'll probably choose that. Assuming we even like the game.

I was somewhat interested in this game, but one of the trailers I saw a while back was nothing but action shots.

I have a feeling they did that since action makes for a good trailer. Let's face it: Adventure games aren't exactly fast paced and as such would be relatively boring to watch in a trailer.

I'd recommend looking for LH videos on YouTube. I have to imagine someone on there has done a play through video already.

There's also a demo available. Sure, it's on Steam, but it's free to sign up and might be worth it to test the game before purchasing.

I'll wait to see what others have to say about it. Watching play throughs on YouTube would be too much of a spoiler.

Some compared it to Secret files but better.
