Lode Runner?
Say, anybody here a fan of good ol Lode Runner?
I know this place mainly focuses on adventure games, not platformers....
But eh, its kind of an adventure game. And it sure as heck is Sierra.

Re: Lode Runner?
I've played it some, at least the Sierra remake. The original was not Sierra.

Re: Lode Runner?
Yeah, Im not sure who the original property belongs too.
I love it because it has the easiest, most fun to use level editor in existance. There is not another game in the world that is as easy to make levels for.
Interesting to note, it is also considered freeware now.
Edit: link removed
Pity his link to the full CD version doesnt work. Ide be happy to upload an iso if anybody wanted to host it anywhere.

Re: Lode Runner?
The game has not been freewared. Often designers have games that they worked on available on their sites, even though the company that the game was developed or published under owns the IP to the game. Al Lowe does it, Mark Seibert and Christy Marx does it, but none of them has a legal right to do it. Activision probably has no idea that these games are being distributed for free and may not care about some of the older games, however, they would be in their legal right to sic their lawyers after them. If anyone really wants the link, please do it through more private means.

Re: Lode Runner?
Apologies, Collector.
I realize you have to be extra careful with this stuff. I do think the game MIGHT be freeware. According to various sources, the game copyright is now owned wholly by the original dev....
And I have no clue who that is. Im positive it doesnt belong to Activision, but that doesnt mean its freeware, of course.

Re: Lode Runner?
No problems, just being cautious. If you can find definitive proof that it is available by consent of its owner, by all means repost the link.

Re: Lode Runner?

Never finished it, but it sure was fun. Ah, memories...

Re: Lode Runner?
It sure is an addicting game. Ill be sure to look into the copyright situation. Im very confused about it now. The name "Lode Runner" has passed between more companies than I can count.
Re: Lode Runner?
I think you would have to look at as a Trademarked name vs the IP of individual games. Rath, if you played it on your C64, it was probably the original 1983 Brøderbund version.
