sigh.. look i?.. i'm a special guy. i got this problem with hormones which makes my heart beat faster, i get excited faster and especially angry. sooo?.. just.. don't try to annoy me more than i already am..

so i play this game phantasmagoria 1?.. then i waste like a whole god damned hour only to find out that i had to click with the matches on adrienne instead of those stairs to light them up.. mm.. ok.. i can live with that.. althou it was ilogical and annoying because i had to look in a walkthrough for it. then when i get to chapter 7 i mistakenly got out of the room before i took the book.. and if i went back don would kill me.. so i quit and tried to load. but guess what... - i couldn't load no more.. even worse, the game profile was gone.. so i had to watch the game ending on youtube. hm.. that kind of.. gave me a sweat... :/ sigh...

so ehhh?.. i tried to play phantasmagoria 2! first i install the game in the dos version.. for some reason it was running very slow but i played it for a while just to get the hang of it... then i install the normal windows version which didn't work.. and when i get back to the dos version?!... the game got facked up in the a$$! because i couldn't open that drawer from the first room which had 3 items! i simply couldn't! i tried countless times the damn thing didn't work! i reinstalled the dos version again and nothing! i simply couldn't control myself so i punched the keyboard! how!.. how can you call this a GAME! a game is something which is supposed to entertain not to torture the minds of innocent people! maaaan... never in my life did i play something SOOOOOO ANNOOOOYING!.. it's true that i had to restart The Dark Eye TWICE from scratch because of the bugs! and when the game got facked up 3rd time i gave up and uninstalled but at least i played for a while! now phantasmagoria 2 i can't play this piece of crap at all! this game is like 2 girls 1 cup.. it changes your life for ever...

For the DOS version of Phant2 (not that I am 100% sure this will work, since I actually don't own Phant2) - did you try using DOSBox?

siiiigh... i made a similar thread on adventureforum or some name like that. and it got deleted in seconds. ah.. if i could just pluck the bones out of that guy and beat him with them.. i'd give my soul only for such priceless delight..

maaan?.. :/ so i got the win95 version?.. and i put this patch which converted it to the dos ver.. it doesn't modify the CDs or course. it just creates a directory on my drive, it make a batch file, and then i use vdmsound to start the game - vdm corrects the sound problems i have if i run the game normaly from batch.. sigh... :/ but if i try to run the batch thing from DOSBox?.. i don't know why but it don't recognize the cd.. i kind of gave up on this game.. it's hard because i seen the trailer and it looks EXACTLY on my taste but what can i do.. the problem is, the areas on the screen where i should be able to interact and use objects seem to be modified causing some of the objects to actually become offscreen! so i can't click on them!..

P.S... i think i was wrong about 2 girls 1 cup.. it was much better than this game because at least it made me laugh until i started coughing..

Don't use VDMS. For DOS games always use DOSBox. Try the new installer, instead.

That happened to my wife. She made a new profile and then started the chapter over. She didn't have to replay the enter game, just the chapter.

I don't know if that helps or not, but give it a try.

Confused. Was it the installer Collector mentioned (the one he made for the site here) or the one on Squitthecat that resolved your issue?

Unbelievable seems to be talking about both Phantasmagoria 1 and 2.

There are two versions of Phantasmagoria 2, one with both Windows and DOS interpreters and the other with only the Windows interpreter. Sierra released a patch installer that converted the Windows only version to an installed DOS version. It used a batch file to install it that does not work on Windows XP and higher. I have both the original patch and a version of the patch that has been modified for XP on SHP, but the game still needs to be manually setup in DOSBox and requires swapping CDs for game play.

jafa only has an installer for Phantasmagoria 2 (not 1), which I do have linked on the SHP Installer page. His Squirt the Cat installer only installs the windows version, but since it is 32-bit it will run on 64-bit Windows. His installer fixes the incompatibility problems on modern Windows and has non-interlaced videos, but requires disc swapping to play. He has also not had the time to address issues that have surfaced with his installers.

HarroSIN, who is also a member here, but has not posted in quite while, created an installer for Phant 2. It sets up the DOS version in DOSBox, and I believe that it can convert the Windows only version to DOS. It has interlaced videos and like the other solutions above it requires disc swapping for game play.

The SHP installer also converts the Windows only version to the DOS, but most importantly concatenates all discs for CD-less game play. Its main drawback is that it suffers from the interlaced videos that all of the DOS solutions do. I have experimented with combining his fixed Windows files with the concatenated resource files to get teh non-interlaced videos with full hard drive install. It runs, but crashes when restoring. I believe that GOG used my installer to prepare their release of Phant 2.

For Phant 1 there are only 2 modern solutions. The highly flawed German installer that leads to a fatal crash in chapter 1 and the SHP installer, which had the most testing and feed back of all the SHP installers.

well i didn't know there were so many installers so i just googled "phantasmagoria 2 installer" and got to the first link on gameboomers which is squirtthecat. and so far it works just perfect. anyway thank you all

Have you done everything else? It's been a while, but that doesn't sound like an error exactly; it sounds as if you may have missed something. Did you show try to show everyone in the office the christmas photo, the parent photo, the seductive postcard, and your work ID? It seems like that was necessary. What about visiting the Dreaming Tree with Trevor?

I'm just trying to think of things, but, again, it sounds like you just missed doing something and it didn't trigger the next event. I could be wrong, though.

the only thing i missed is line 41 - i didn't show trevor the postcard nor the other 2 photos because i didn't read the walkthrough before having the problem. and if i try to do that at this point, it won't work. but i already been with him at the tree

As for being buggy, consider the fact you're running it on a machine probably 10x faster than what it was designed for.
