The Sierra Game Haiku thread!

Post by Rath Darkblade » Sat Jul 17, 2010 6:54 am

There are already lots of Sierra quiz threads here, and I kind of feel left out in them because I didn't play KQ much or anything other than SQ, QfG, LSL and PQ. :( So, here's your chance to get your Sierra game fix and be creative at the same time! :D Does anyone feel like writing some haikus? They can be beautiful, poignant, incongruous, silly - do whatever you like. The only requirements are: your haiku or haikus must refer to a Sierra game, character or situation, and must follow the 5-7-5 haiku format. (That last one isn't such a must though - if you know any other haiku formats, feel free to use them!) ;)

I'll get the ball rolling.

Pholus Haiku
I act tough, make swords
But no one knows my fondness
For Bob the Builder

Frustrated Hero Haiku
Grumble grumble... no
control over life or pants...
*braces snap, pants drop*

QfG2 Signor Ferrari Haiku
I swat heroes like
I swat flies; here comes Blondie.
SWAT! Off to jail, twit!

Haiku-writing haiku
I must have too much
time on my hands, otherwise
I would not do this.
-----------------------------------------
Is anyone interested? ;) Feel free to create your own! :)

Oh don't worry, I like them... but I'm no good at writing poetry in a foreign language. Come to think of it I shouldn't try it in Dutch either.

I was thinking ‘bout
Writing one but there is not
Enough minutes in the day! :D

I love your idea, Rath, because it gives attention to the games that we love to play that others may not know very well, or vice versa like you said. Maybe I’ll write one Sierra-related later. :)

Heh. Even if you can't write one, just drop by and get a giggle out of other people's haikus and let them know! *grin* Jules, I loved your haiku - there just isn't enough time, is there? Oh, dear... Datadog, that's just priceless. *grins* "Oops, I died somehow..."

Here's another.

Spielburg Thief Haiku
Sneak into people's house;
Yay, I got another coin!
Damn - Sheriff's awake...

Erana's Mordavia Haiku
In endless void I wait...
All time swirls past, all is peace.
Hero! Free my spirit!

Funny!

How about some GK Haikus.

Beignet Haiku
Deep-fried French fritter,
And confectioners’ sugar,
Serve with black coffee.

Mari Gras Haiku
For beads and doubloons,
Scream, “Throw me somethin’ mista!”
Sneak a naughty view! :D

The ‘Quwata’ Haiku
Masks, jazz and liquor,
Strip clubs and piano bars,
Only on Bourbon!

Nawlins Haiku
Purple, green and gold,
Laissez les bon temps rouler,
In the Vieux Carre!

Crawfish Haiku
Dem bayou crawfish,
Suck da heads, ya, suck da heads!
Da best flavor, sluuuuurp!

Okay, so they kind of go on a non-game tangent but I was on a roll. :D

I should amend and say I am not good at Haikus...

Write five syllables,
Seven syllables, then five
Haikus are easy.

Do they have to rhyme?
No, of course not. Just write stuff.
Half the time, it works!

Just like that! Awesome!
If you can count, you can write!
Everyone should try!

Rainforest Haiku
In the canopy,
High above. Sloths, snakes and birds,
It is full of life!

Stuck In The Mud Haiku
Here, piggy piggy!
Help me out of this mud pit!
A rope! Hang tight... Weeeee!!
