And QfG itself is purely Sierra, not developed for someone else. The real Sierra adventures have always drawn heavily from folklore, legends and myths, whereas the Horned King comes from Lloyd Alexander via Disney.

Mythological and folkloric characters are within the public domain, so whoever uses them can inject their own interpretation. That's how QFG's Baba Yaga might differ from someone else's vision of her or even the original incarnation.
