Games You're Looking Forward To?

Post by Tawmis » Tue Jun 08, 2010 5:48 pm

What are some games you're looking forward to?

(This was inspired because I was on the Jon Oliva page and someone mentioned Nevermore's newest CD coming out June 8th - which is today - and I knew they had a new CD in the works - but had no idea when it was coming out! So I figured this would be a good chance to make one another aware of new games coming out that we may or may not be aware of).

Aside from Gray Matter?

Dragon Age 2, Mass Effect 3... and that's about it.

Haven't been looking forward to any game since 2008 except... Gray Matter.

Pretty much the same for me, with the possible inclusion of Guild Wars 2.

Speaking of GUILD WARS 2 (since it's an MMO) - does anyone (or has anyone) played DDO (Dungeons & Dragons Online)? It's free. A couple of co-workers and I played it together for about a month and a half and had a good time with it. Lord Of the Rings Online is going Free To Play as well - and a couple of us are discussing jumping on that when it does.

With GoW3 and Brutal Legend out of the way, the only thing that really presses my geek button right now is waiting for the next episode of "Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse."

That, and whatever secret project Double-Fine Productions is working on next.

My GoW3 > than your GoW3.

To me GoW = Gears of War. Which, ironically I am VERY eagerly awaiting GEARS OF WAR 3. I am normally not the first person shooter kind of gamer. But I got into it with HALO when I first got my original XBOX. But Halo is nothing compared to GEARS OF WAR. Gears of War 1 > Halo 3 or any version of Halo.

I simply can not wait until Gears of War 3.

Have I said that already?

Just occured to me I can stick "Back to the Future" and "Jurassic Park" in here as well.

And Portal 2. I forgot about that one.

Can't say I have. Normally I'm not into MMOs. I'd consider checking them out, since they're free, but I'm not sure how much time I'd actually put into them.

The only reason we (DPX and I) got into Guild Wars was because we were still long distance at the time and because there was no monthly fee. Plus, it looked quite nice and was super user-friendly. Definitely designed for the casual MMO gamer who wants to avoid the downsides of most MMOs.

While I'm semi-interested in Guild Wars 2, I probably won't rush out and get it right away.

Same as some others here, I forgot about Portal 2. Of course I'm interested in that!

Portal 2 has been postponed to 2011 :(.

My brother told me about LOTRO. I may grab it myself! I'm still hoping that Star Trek Online gets a similar treatment, but I doubt it anytime soon sadly...

I was gonna say Fallout - New Vegas, but with the news about it activating through STEAM, then I've changed my mind big time.

Other than that there's really not any games I'm looking forward to at the moment.

Portal 2 is supposed to have a co-op mode as well. I'm not quite sure how that'll work, but it still sounds neat. Maia and I especially enjoy co-op games. :P

I hope Gray Matter is available through Steam. Whether that's in addition to physical shelf space or not, the exposure would be good for it. A lot more people will see it on Steam -- and perhaps contemplate buying it -- than those who wander into a store. Most people going into a physical store are looking for a specific game and therefore may completely overlook GM.

Look at TellTale games. Sure, their games are available through their own website and some of their titles can be bought in stores, but they also sell through Steam. Tons of people have bought and downloaded TellTale's games on Steam.

There was even a promotional offer a while back that allowed TF2 users to get a "Max hat" if they bought the new Sam & Max season on Steam. I'm surprised to see how many TF2 players run around with that hat, but it's pretty popular.

That's the value of exposure. Maybe some of those gamers just bought the new S&M season for the hat itself or maybe they actually like the games. Regardless, it produces higher sales figures for TellTale and that means more money to make more (and perhaps even better) games in the future.
