Need help with subtitles for GK 2

Post by mendosa » Sun Mar 21, 2010 9:16 am

I need your help. While making Polish subtitles for GK 2, I got to the conversation between Gabe and Von Glower, just before Detta comes in (Chapter Five, Opening Movie).

Gabe says: Oh, she's a hoot, alright. Just pretend you don't have a penis around her and you'll be fine.

Von Glower answers: Now I'm really intrigued!

But before Von Glower answers, Gabe says:

"Just get this thing more need they'll rip them off"

or "She gets this thing more need they'll reap them off"

or? That is what I am able to hear there, as there are no subtitles for this sentence.

I am adding short sound file to this post, any help will be appreciated, thanks in advance.

It sounds like he's saying, [she's] got this in-born need to rip them off.

I'm not sure about the 'in born' part because I've never herd those words used in a sentence like that. But it makes sense if he's referring to her natural instinct, so to speak.

That makes sense, Jules - thank you very much :D . You've saved my day ;) .

I even think I should add this to English subtitles, although this sentence is not very important, and you can get the sense of the conversation without it - but it just should be there.

Was this missing from the English subtitle patch?

Collector - (or whoever can help) could you supply me with the working save game just around the beginning of Chapter Five? I will be able to tell you for sure if the sentence is there, or not. I have searched the subpatch directory, looked through all the files (msg, hep), and did not see it. In corresponding msg file - it goes like I wrote.

What version do you have? I have some saves that were given to me to host here, though I have yet to get around to writing a page for the save games. I am not sure what version that they made with. They do not work with version 1.1.

Unfortunatelly, I have version 1.1. I've been trying some saves that can be found on same games serwer, but none of them work. But let say, there is no hurry, it can wait until me, or my fellow tester will get to that moment in game. Which may be even better, in case we will find more lines missing.

mendosa, to clarify, is it a saved game from version 1.1 that you need or a different version?

Keep in mind that if you have applied the subtitle patch that her save games will probably not work. I'm going to move this thread to the GK forum so that others can see it. There might be people that have not joined the Community group and don't see the closed forum. Some of them might have a save game.

Jules - thanks for the save game you sent me via PM :) . But Collector was right - save game does not work, when the subtitles are installed:

1. Under Windows the game just crushes to the system.
2. Under Ubuntu the game crushes to DOSBox, printing a message: "Error 44: bad optcode $1".

When I uninstalled subtitle patch, the game load this save game normally though.

I should add a warning message in the subtitle installer to warn users that they will not be able to use their old save games. Maybe add an option to set any existing save games in a back folder for when the subtitle patch is uninstalled.
