Heavy Rain
Have any of you tried this game out yet? It's for PS3.
I bought the game last night at GameStop and I believe this is one of the best games I've bought for the system yet. The detail in this game is amazing and it has a deep plot to it. Right now I'd easily give it a 9.5/10

Re: Heavy Rain
I don't have a PS3, otherwise I'd surely buy Heavy Rain. I'm not a big fan of David Cage and I found Indigo Prophecy deeply flawed, albeit certainly interesting. Intriguing, even. Cage is a good storyteller, but not a very good writer, in my opinion, and his plots tend to go awry pretty soon. However, Heavy Rain sounds like another interesting effort, and I really hope for a PC conversion.

Like Andrea I don't have a PS3.
And originally I was thinking, "I wonder if QuestCollector lives in San Diego?" Because we have been getting unusual amounts of rain.

Reminds me of Benoit Sokal. Sokal can paint a nice scene, but his plots end up lacking, especially the endings. I have been curious about the game, but have not been eagerly awaiting it. As intriguing as it looks, it will probably end up being an action/adventure, with too much emphasis placed on the action, but if they do a PC port I may still get it.AndreaDraco wrote:Cage is a good storyteller, but not a very good writer, in my opinion, and his plots tend to go awry pretty soon.

Re: Heavy Rain
I really disliked all the mini-games in Indigo Prophecy and found them very disruptive to gameplay, but I have heard really good things about Heavy Rain and would definitely try it if it came to PC.

Apparently Feb 28th is not a very good day to play your playstation 3. Dating back to 2008 the PS network has crashed on this date each year.
It's happened again. My console is dead. It won't let me play any games with trophies. It has even deleted some of my trophies at this point.
Threads are going up all over gaming sites like gamespot. People are freaking out!
And I just bought Heavy Rain

Speaking of Heavy Rain, I knew I heard of it before. DPX mentioned it in the Heavy Rain thread he started previously!

Re: Heavy Rain
Finally trying to keep up with the times, I checked out the PS3 demo of the game. I really liked the look and feel of it, and I definitely want to see where the plot goes. The only problem is with the awkward prompt-pushing. I can't see what the prompts say on my older TV half the time. I was having a similar problem with GoW3, but at least in that one, the prompts always appear in specific places. I don't think I'd be able to play the full game given all the trouble I had with the demo. It's also very irritating how the dialogue choices orbit around the characters. Reading tiny moving dialogue is not one of my special skills. A lot of these newer games need a text-enlarging option. Try reading this and scrolling the page at the same time.

Reminds me of the current cinematography trend of having the cameraman running circles around the subject and swinging and shaking the camera around like a 12-year old kid with both Parkinson's and ADD just to give it an "edgy" feel. OK, Johnny, time to give the camcorder back to daddy. Pathetic. Yes, this has become a pet peeve of mine.

Reminds of old LaserDisc and Sega CD games. Nearly all of them used FMV or animation that relied on pushing the right button at the right time or when prompted to do so.Datadog wrote:Finally trying to keep up with the times, I checked out the PS3 demo of the game. I take it you didn't enjoy Cloverfield.Collector wrote:Reminds me of the current cinematography trend of having the cameraman running circles around the subject and swinging and shaking the camera around like a 12-year old kid with both Parkinson's and ADD just to give it an "edgy" feel. "Hey, let's spend millions of dollars on special effects and stunts, and then shake the camera around so no one can see them!"
Man, a person actually has to TRY just to get the shaking as bad as it is sometimes.

BWP was good for what it was, back then.Rath Darkblade wrote:Reminds me of The Blair Witch Project...
I just hate the trend that followed with the shaky cam because of BWP's amazing success.

Re: Heavy Rain
I bought the game a couple weeks ago. Loving it. But I also bought the God of War series for PS3 and that's taken up my time a bit. Looking forward to finally playing Heavy Rain, though.
