Saved game issues - utility doesn't work ??

Ok i know.. this is my only post.. I hate those people too... but I just cant find the info im looking for. Like many of you here i play these games as a kid and am reliving them as an adult. I'm currently on kq8 now, but get stuck coming out of the tower after just retrieving the axe. The spear demon dude and get ready to fight, but when the sequence is over, it hangs. I installed vb6 files, updated the game to 1.3, tried the saved game work-around, but no avail. The saved game is corrupt? Or at least that's what it tells me. I tried to use the catalog repair utility for saved games, but this didn't work... and when I tried to put my old save back... it says it's corrupt too.

I don't know where to go from here... please help.

Hi and welcome. This is a known glitch and occurs on several places in the game, including at the place you described. Before exiting the building where you got the axe, save. Then holster the weapon and exit the building in either 1st or 3rd person view (one of them works, i just forgot which one it is). Hope this helps.

THANK YOU. I was almost tempted to open the console and either walk out through the wall or just give myself the axe.... >.<

do you know does this also work the same for the other areas like the gnome and barrens?

Finally, the keep key... I can't seem to find it anywhere (haven't checked wizards house, and church yet as no rope&hook)

Again thanks. I never realized there were still people that played this like me or at least helped us doorknobs out ^^

Tried it both ways.... nada. I don't know if killing him is "required" or not but i'm going to teleport myself out and see wat happens

Is the save game that doesn't work for you one that you downloaded from here?

You may have to try several times, no kidding. Just try out with:
- weapon holstered / weapon not holstered
- 1st person/3rd person
Even if you have the combination correct, it may take several attempts.

This glitch occurs when you play Mask of Eternity on newer operating systems, on several places. The ones i currently remember are:
- after picking up the axe in Daventry
- after entering one of the shops in the Realm of the Gnomes
- after entering the weapon dealer's hut in the Barren Region

About the saved game, after useing the save game file from here, or after moving my own out and then back in, the game says it's corrupt.

About the axe glitch... i gave up after 3 tries total. I just used the console and teleported right outside (and made sure not to cross the threshold of the mill). Other than a lack of exp from killing the monster, I'm nearly finished with underworld section and no negative side effects as of yet.

Anyone happen to know how much exp is rewarded for killing that monster? (i'm a glutton but hate cheating)
