I forgot to post this before now, but... Steam is holding massive discounts on MOST of their games until January 3rd as part of their "Holiday Sale." This includes Adventure games.
For instance, the King's Quest and Space Quest collections are $4.99 each. The LucasArts Adventure Pack is $2.49 (alternatively, you could buy any of the four LA games within the pack for $2.49 per game) and the Broken Sword Twin Pack is $4.99 as well. You could also purchase BS2 and BS3 separately for $2.99.
Most games on Steam -- going far beyond the Adventure genre -- are on sale of up to 80% off. If you're interested in a game that's offered on Steam (and most are), I'd take a look.
For those few of you without a credit card, Steam accepts PayPal and something called "Clickandbuy." I have no idea what the latter is, so you'll need to check it out yourself.
