What happened when you tried the installer. Error messages? What did you try?

Doubt it has to do with your installer, collector. I had this error a long time ago (before your installer) on the exact same place. The glitch can be dodged by skipping the scene.

DOSBox alone said it couldnt create the file scarydos and the phantasmagoria DOSBox installer said it couldnt read disk one when it was in the drive.

The Sierra 16-bit Windows games need NTVDM in addition to WOW to run on modern Windows.

To understand where the problem might be I need some more information. What OS? Is the disc in good shape with no scratches, etc.? Do you have more than one CD drive?

The German installer was experimental and has errors that are fixed with the DOSBox installer. It is the most tested of the SHP installers. The 16-bit Windows Sierra games make use of the NTVDM, the highly flawed built in DOS emulator and WOW, (Windows on Windows), a 16-bit Windows emulator. This does not provide an ideal environmet for the old games. You are also exposed to other problems, such as hardware incompatibilities that can lead to problems like timer bugs.

You may have a slightly different version than the ones that were used to make the installer. When you use the DOSBox installer does it keep asking you to insert disc 1? Do you have the file "RESMAP.001" on disc one? Did you get this installer?

like i said b4 i have used that installer and it didnt work but the german one did it even made the game full screen instead of a small rectangle in the middle of the screen. i had the same error but it was easily passed by skipping the scene i have beaten the game as well.

Just saying that the installer does not work isn't helpful. If you have a different version that is not working with my installer I would like to find out why and fix it, but I need information in order to do so. As I said, the German installer is a quick and dirty script that has numerous in game errors, some of which lead to fatal crashes. It also does nothing to shield you from the many incompatibilities of the NTVDM. DOSBox is, by far, the best solution. I am willing to fix the installer, but I need some cooperation.
