Upgrading my KQ7 (win-only version)... on OSX

Post by sithlord2 » Sat Feb 19, 2011 5:17 am

Hi guys,

I still have my cd with KQ7 (it's one of the first Windows-only editions), but I switched to Mac a few years ago.

Is there any possible way to upgrade this version to Version 2(DOS+Win), so I can run it under OSX with DOSBox? I found an updater on the site, but it seems to be windows-only too.

I could also install win3.1 under DOSBox, but I prefer the V2 edition, as it probably contains lots of bugfixes.

If you have version 1.4 or 1.51 you can use the installer from here. It is a Windows installer, but it can run under WINE. Boot Camp and Parallels are also solutions. If none of these, just install it on a PC and copy the installed folder back to your Mac. The [autoexec] section of the dosbox.conf will need to have the mounting edited to match where you have placed the installed folder on your Mac. Then just create a alias to your DOSBox with with the -conf switch pointing to the game's included dosbox.conf (the one that you edited the mounting).
