I went with a Bosmer and am focusing on archery, thievery, and magic. So far it's pretty good. As always sneaking is serving me splendidly. Need a lot more practice, though.

Hmmm. Do you know how modding in Elder Scrolls works? I have tried mods before, but they've always ended up crashing my game, so I'm not too sure what to do. :(

The mod looks brilliant, but I'm not sure how to install it! ;)

***EDIT*** Never mind! I had Javascript turned off on that site so I didn't see the description. I turn it on and presto! :D

I have to say - beware of using that module! Ever since I started using it, the map became completely blacked out at night (from about 8pm to about 7am), so you couldn't see where you are on the map anyway. Useless! :(

Also, I don't know if this is a side-issue or what, but ever since I started using this module, I can't use the carriages. :? You know - the ones that take you from capital to capital? Well, I climb on back, but nothing happens. The driver just says "I can't wait here forever" and other similar things. Any ideas why this happens?

***EDIT*** Never mind - I figured out why. I was simply over-encumbered, so fast travel doesn't work. All the same, the first issue I mentioned - that the map becomes completely blacked out at night - is pretty serious. :(

I'd make sure to contact that mod maker and let him know. I'm certain he'd want to fix whatever bugs exist in it.

Ten hours in. In the end, I chose to play a stealthy Dunmer mage, with a penchant, when he's in close combat, for one-handed weapons. I like the combination.

I've barely scratched the Main Quest - I've entered Bleak Falls Barrow and found the Dragonstone for that Whiterun's Court Mage - and now I'm going to travel a bit to find the various guilds scattered thoughout Skyrim. I'm beginning to like the interface more and the new Skill Perks are very, very interesting, but I still don't like the lack of attributes or of some old skills, like Acrobatics.

With that being said, the game seems very well written, even if not on par with Morrowind's level, and the world feels alive and realistic. As always with the TES games, just walking around and discovering things is a great pleasure.

Heh. I'm playing a stealthy Argonian archer, who switches to one-handed weapons in close combat. <TF2>"Boom! Head shot."</TF2> :D

I've also barely scratched the Main Quest. On the other hand, I found the Companions, two Word Walls, and killed four dragons. I'm also exploring the land and doing quests. It's all very interesting and beautiful. I also like the new Skill Perk system.

On the minus side, I too miss the lack of attributes and some of the old skills. Also, the User Interface is very annoying, having to scroll down a loooooooooong list to find the item you need, while about 80% of the screen is dominated by huge pictures. It's a bit of a waste of space.

But then, on the other hand, I also like the new crafting, cooking and enchanting systems. They're good fun. :) I also don't miss the need (as in TES4) to fix my old weapons. :P

Thought you might like to read it. :P

Pretty funny indeed! ;)

And I confess that I spent quite a bit of time swimming and catching salmons too!

LOL! Anyone guilty of any of these? *puts hand up for #5 and #4*

What do you think happens in Skyrim...

...when you're not around? ;)

"My lord! A Dragon has attacked Whiterun!"

"Really? We need a sword-wielding hero. You there! You're just the kind of witless deadbeat we need!"

"Who, me?"

"Yeah, you! Can you slay a Dragon?"

"No!"

"Good! Off you go!"

*hack, slash, zing, flame later...*

"My lord! The Dragon barbecued our hero!"

"Never mind, plenty more where that came from..." :P

Sigh... Bethesda bug in Skyrim. :-(

Sigh... I had to give up my level 52 Argonian rogue. (Warning: Spoilers)

I got as far as the "Fallen" quest (in the main quest chain), and got to the part where I have to summon a dragon to take me to Alduin. However, I went out to the Great Perch (a sort of balcony in Dragonsreach), used the "Call Dragon" shout, and....................... nothing happened. :x

I didn't have a savegame before I went out to the Perch either, so basically I was screwed and had to start all over again. :(

Sigh... why didn't a dragon show up? What am I supposed to be doing? Just stand there and wait forever for one to show up? :(

I've yet to reach this quest, so I can only point you this UESP walkthrough.

If nothing else works, bear in mind that you can force the progress of a quest by using the built-in console. The page I linked details how.

Rath, go to the Steam message boards for Skyrim (or some other board that specializes in that RPG). I don't know why you keep coming here when very, very few of us are even interested in this game. You're simply wasting your time and could probably get a quicker -- and better -- answer if you go elsewhere.

Oh and can we please keep the Skyrim stuff in ONE thread? We don't need a new thread for every single thing regarding this game.

I have merged the Skyrim threads into one. If there is one missing, let me know.

I'm having an eerie sense of deja vu with "Skyrim." Half my news-feed is full of videos about modded swearing mud-crabs, flying horses, and "Fus Do Rah" attacks, and reading this thread is like listening to my classmates every day. For a game I haven't played, I'm surprisingly in the loop for a change.
