BioWare Technical Issues

NOTE: Hey Tawmis or Collector, can you move posts about tech issues in Dragon Age and Mass Effect into this thread? I know that'd be a big job to do, so if you can't that's fine too.

I thought making a thread dedicated to technical issues might be better than bringing them up inside various threads. :)

Now that I've said that... my complaint relates to DLC, specifically Leliana's Song. Maia's told me it's really good, so I decided to give it a try.

It's crashed to the desktop about five times now and I just started playing it yesterday. Three of those crashes occurred within five minutes, including the time it took to load up DA again.

It's weird because I've just started the game and I'm only walking around Denerim. I haven't even began, let alone completed, any quests yet. Hell, I've barely moved around at all! The game crashes before I have a chance to go anywhere!

Dragon Age: Awakening crashed to the desktop as well, but only after I'd been playing for a while. It didn't crash nearly as often, however.

What's odd is that I can't recall Dragon Age: Origins crashing on me. It might have (I finished that months ago), but even if it did, it was a rare occurrence. Unfortunately, that's not the case with DA:A and LS.

Tawmis, Andrea: did either one of you have this problem? I'm going to look on the BioWare boards too, but I figured I'd ask here as well. I'm less likely to receive rude comments. :P

I never encountered this problem with Dragon Age or any of its DLC.

I tried searching for your problems on the social site, but I didn't find anything. The only thing that I can think of, since you already completed the game and the expansion, plus Witch Hunt, is that there's something interfering with the game itself.

Searching on Google resulted in some people having this problem because of the last patch. Maybe trying to reinstall the patch or install a subsequent patch will fix it...
