So, just wondering: D&D (was what's your favourite CRPG?)

Talk about games or general tech issues that are not Sierra related.

You've failed on all counts.
So this thread lost any "civil conversation" long ago.
I would have "agreed to disagree" had I known, from the start, your hatred of D&D comes from CRPGS - SOLELY. At which point, yes, I could be made to see your point of view. I was operating on the assumption you had played D&D itself (as in the pen and paper game) - and perhaps that was my error. But when you said you hated D&D, and that you don't have time for "D&D Studies" - I assumed, that meant you knew there were QUITE a few books for the pen & paper D&D game (we're talking well over 20 or 30 books now, for the latest edition). And I could see how that would be intimidating for the new player to D&D.

And I hardly think that three or four posts (one of them being the start and asking why you hated D&D is hardly "hammering away" at someone). Again, my posts - if you look back - are all going on the assumption you had played the Pen & Paper version of the game. My error, admittedly, for assuming as such. And for that, my apologies. I was just trying to figure out why you hated it so much. If your sole experience is with CRPGs for D&D, and you hate - then so be it. I won't argue further about it. You hate CRPGs based on D&D. Fine. End of the line.

I even tried to show, that I honestly believe you were more intelligent than myself - and you even turned THAT comment around and make a snarky, sarcastic remark out of it.

I like that style of play, heavy on interpretation and moral choice and light on rules and dice, dark, gloomy, introspective, philosophical almost. I absolutely love V:tM  Bloodlines, if you haven't tried it, is a good rendition and it's also available on GOG!
Aye, I have played it. There's hardly an RPG that I have not played, it would seem (well dating back 5 years ago and before). I used to really be into RPGs of all kinds back then - everything from your standard D&D type games (whether in Greyhawk, Forgotten Realms, Dragonlance, Custom Worlds), to Gamma World, to Boot Hill, to Star Frontiers, Spelljammer, Vampire, Werewolf, Cyberpunk... Back when I hung out with my friends... that's pretty much how we spent our evenings was gaming! It was always very fun, even if we had power gamers in the group.

I even did a comic strip (since I can't draw I used the art from Knights of the Dinner Table) based on our games: here. I later even did one based off of the art from Order of the Stick found: here.

Given the title of the thread and that I was relating my D&D experience to other CRPGs, I thought you knew I wasn't talking about PnP. I could see how confusing my comments might have been in this case.

I guess we both got our wires crossed somehow.

As for the "snarky comment," I get that way when I feel I'm being (unfairly) attacked. I acually felt angry enough to put a hole in the wall. Seriously.

Regardless of how I felt, I shouldn't have said what I did. I apologize for making that comment. :)
