Since I ordered the signature edition for X360 - I am curious how it's graphics will compare vs PC. Especially if you're playing on a High Def television. Wonder if that will have the higher def graphics or just the "generic" graphics?

Can someone post screenshots comparing the textures when you can? I wonder if my 5770 will handle it. I can't imagine the higher resolution textures having that much of a difference unless the default textures are really really ugly and low-res. Especially since it's not like a first-person shooter where you're viewing the game world from up close.

It's been said that the consoles are actually HOLDING computer games back from utilizing the graphical capabilities available to modern-day video cards. That's probably true considering the 360 was released in 2005 and the PS3 in 2006. Even though both consoles still produce really good looking games, technology has surpassed them. But since publishers want to develop for both console and PC, the graphics need to be scaled back.

DX11 is a good example. Video cards that are capable of using DX11 show graphics way beyond that of either console.

I think this is why BioWare has said that if you can run DA:O, you can run DA2. If BioWare developed it strictly for the PC, then I seriously doubt either console could handle it.

I'm actually glad that consoles are restricting PCs right now. Because of that I can play new games! :D

If your 5770 is 1GB or more and you have Windows 7, you should be able to use it.

The comparison is already available.

Here you can find the first part of a BioWare blog entry that details DA2 technology outside of DX11. Here, on the other hand, are described the features included for the higher-end GPUs.

Wonder if there's a toolset in mind for Dragon Age II?

I believe so, because one of the new sections of the official forums is labelled "Dragon Age II Fan Creations, Mods and Modding" ;)

Well that means, they're going to allow MODS. Doesn't mean that they'll have a Toolset?

It'd be nice (in terms of machinima) - but as hard as the first Dragon Age toolset was, it will be machinima left up to wiser people than myself.

You can find both the mods (CC, Difficulty & Inventory) here. The download is safe.
Hrm, allows for custom features and difficulty... but inventory still seems locked?

I have Vista, which I'm assuming is fine since it supports DX11 as well.

Multiple people on the forums are reporting severe errors during the import from Origins, saying that many plot flags are very incorrectly represented. I have to wait until Friday, of course, but I'd like to hear from you guys as well. Having any problems?

I thought Vista only supported DX10. I might be wrong, though.

It's still morning and people have already bought and installed it? What'd they do, camp outside the store?

How do they even know "many plot flags" are incorrect? I can't imagine they've already beaten the game (and if they have, I feel sorry for them), so how would you know?

Because when you import, you have a chance to see a summary of what you're importing and many are reporting corrupted flags. For example:

If they saved Connor, but at the expense of Isolde, the flag says that Connor is dead too; if the Warden recruited Loghain but convinced him to sleep with Morrigan for the Dark Ritual, the flag says that Loghain died slaying the Archdemon and so forth.

I'm 99% sure that DirectX 11 is Vista too. Basically if your system supports DX10, then it supports DX11 as well.

I have to wait a week for my copy to get delivered because I ordered on Amazon. I don't mind. It will give me time to hopefully finish up a couple other games and uninstall them.

I just read a review on IGN and I'm kind of disappointed. I didn't realize the entire game takes place in one city. Plus it apparently ends with a cliffhanger, which I'll hate. It better continue with at least a full-fledged expansion pack instead of bits of DLC.

I probably won't even remember most of the plot flags I should have.

What I've now been reading on the BioWare boards is that the import works just fine, it's that the game doesn't recognize certain choices or actions LATER in the game. So you don't know what will be incorrectly flagged.

I've also read that the game does this to itself, with or without any imported games. DA2 might not recognize decisions you made early on the game and act is if you did something else.

Probably the worst thing of all is that people have reported that BioWare KNEW of this bug ahead of time since it's reported on the DVD's readme file.

BioWare really screwed up this time. I'm getting really tired of PAYING to be a beta tester. Too many developers are pulling this shit nowadays. Just delay the game if you have to, but FIX IT before it's released!

I know Maia and I won't be playing it until this is fixed with a patch. That's a shame because we were looking forward to playing it, especially Maia.
