Regards Funds: I am with you... I never seem to have enough. My original play through on XBOX I didn't really do much with skills such as Herbalism/Poison/Traps, etc. Just didn't want to try to invest the time it'd take to find 1 A-Plant, 3 B-Plant, 1 Flask, 1 Liquid Thing just to make a Injury Kit thing (of course paraphrasing, but you get the idea). On the PC, I am playing a Rogue and have gone through with Poison Making, and using Herbalism on Alistair (since I got him so early). But still not making any real money.
For example, I went to the Mage's Tower (to begin that quest there for the Circle) and there was a fantastic wand for 126 Gold. Are you kidding me? At the highest I have ever had was 74 gold. And that was gone as soon as I had it because I sold everything I could to get some nice armor.

Eventually, trust me, you will have the money to buy the Staff of the Magister Lords, and it will be worth of every gold you spent.
For those of you in need of money, my boyfriend signaled me yesterday that...
(very, very light spoiler)
There's a side-quest in Orzammar (Dust Town) that it is potentially worth - if you have enough Coercion - 80 gold or so. I may also add that, always in Orzammar (Caridin's Cross), there is a moral choice that, given that you're not roleplaying a very good, idealistic character, can net you a huge amount of gold

More news wrote:
[UPDATE] $40 add-on to BioWare’s critically acclaimed RPG will increase level cap and add new party members, spells, and storyline; Return to Ostagar yanked at last minute for unknown reasons.
Awakening will feature smarter darkspawn….
Canadian developer BioWare was roundly criticized for not providing much additional content for its 2007 sci-fi role-playing game Mass Effect. That criticism certainly can’t be leveled at the Electronic Arts subsidiary's dark fantasy RPG Dragon Age: Origins, GameSpot’s 2009 PC Game of the Year. Also available for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, the title saw its first downloadable expansion pack launch alongside the game itself in November.
[UPDATE] A second DLC add-on, Return to Ostagar, was set to launch on Tuesday--but its release was stopped at the last minute. "We found a last minute issue and have delayed Return to Ostagar to ensure we deliver the highest quality experience to our fans," a BioWare rep told GameSpot. "We will update you once we have more information regarding the new date and are working hard to get Return to Ostagar out as quickly as possible."
Just over four months after Dragon Age's debut, the game will also be getting its first full-fledged expansion, Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening. Available on March 16 worldwide for the PC, 360, and PS3, the major add-on will feature an all-new storyline that focuses on the rebuilding of the Grey Wardens after the bloody events of the original game's campaign. It will allow players to import their Dragon Age characters or start over as an all-new new Grey Warden from the empire of Orlais. It will also delve deeper into the backstory of the Darkspawn and their ongoing objectives.
…and deadlier dragons.
In addition to a new storyline, Awakening will raise the level cap for Dragon Age: Origins. It will also add new foes, with BioWare mentioning such creatures as the Inferno Golem, Spectral Dragon, and a hyperintelligent sub-race of Darkspawn. It will be set in the all-new realm of Amaranthine and will also add new spells, abilities, and five all-new party members, which players can enlist.
[UPDATE] According to EA, Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening will cost $40 in the US on all platforms and require the original Dragon Age to play. However, retailer GameStop is listing the PC version of the expansion for just $30--a price that BioWare said was erroneous. "It's $40 on all platforms," a rep confirmed. No UK or EU price was given.)
Available both digitally and as a boxed retail product, Awakening is rated M for Mature by the Entertainment Software Rating Board in North America and 18+ by PEGI in Europe. The expansion’s official Web site has more details.

Now that said - the only real down side is how EXPENSIVE that expansion pack is. I mean that's $19 shy of the core game itself (barring Collector's Edition and such). That's pretty intense.
Doubly so for me, since I play on both X360 and on the PC. That'd be 80 dollars to invest in just the expansion for both systems. That's pretty deep during these financial times (especially with a 900 dollar water heater repair and 3,000 dollar car repair the day after Christmas!)

While I strongly disagree with the post you linked us, some issues he raises are true. The uninformative spells/talents descriptions, for example, which are way too vague and the unbalanced difficulty - I mean, 'normal' is really, really hard, unless you're playing a powerful, DPS mage. Aside from these points, though, I believe that he played through only a tiny fraction of the game, because the side-quests are intriguing (of course, many of them are simply fetch, but many more have a lot of meat on the bone) and the gameplay incredibly fun and surprisingly rewarding if you spend some quality time developing your character. I also found that
this mod completely resolves the aformentioned issue regarding the vague descriptions and allows players who have the time and patience to do so to develop their characters incredibly well.
As for the whole
Return to Ostagar debacle, it has been pretty surreal. Yesterday, around this hour, a mod told us over the social site that RtO had been delayed. Two hours before another mod (and developer of the game) told us that he couldn't wait to hear our opinion on RtO when we would have been playing it today. For me, it's like
Gray Matter all over again: I'm not displeased that the DLC isn't out today, but the lack of communications (and the fact that this is the second dead-line missed) is certainly annoying. With that being said, I'm sure that when RtO will be out, it will be as great as
Warden's Keep and
The Stone Prisoner.
And now to
Awakening. Rumors circulated on the social site for almost a week, but none of us expected to see an official announcement so soon, let alone an estimate release date so early. Anyway, in case you guys missed it,
here's the trailer, which, be warned, contains at least three major spoilers from the end of DA:O. I'm pretty thrilled about it, even if I'm waiting to see how many choices - and there are plenty in DA:O - will be effectively carried over the expansion pack. The story seems solid, though, and I'm waiting eagerly to read the two books from Gaider, since it has been said (I won't spoil why) that
The Calling ties pretty heavily with this expasion pack.

You're on the Dragon Age/Social Site thing? (That forum is a nightmare...)
And I have both books. Just have other books I am working on before I read them; which works out fine, since I have yet to finish Dragon Age. The downside to the X360 on the main big tv in the living room is the wife usually watches tv till 11pm.

Yeah, a nightmare. But I'm getting used to its hectic rhythms: when Chris Priesly told us that RtO had been delayed, the users filled 70 pages with comments and furious posts in less than three hours.

Ah, yes, a brief reminder why I stay off of it - unless it's to post an issue.
I love how these people EXPECT so much. Like they've never been late for something they promised? Whether a date with a friend. Dinner. Or even something work related. Give me an effin break people. Go play in the sun. The real sun. Not the digital one.

No kidding. I'd rather have it be late and good than on-time and full of bugs. I'm looking forward to the expansion and the add-ons, myself. I'm still trying to decide (before I finish the game) whether to get
Warden's Keep.
I stay off those forums myself as well these days. These are pretty much the only forums I go to, mainly because people here are actually reasonable overall.
As for the tips about ways to get money, I do plan on checking out some of the rogue side-quests in Denerim next time I go back, so maybe that will help out. Thanks for the heads up.

I have had my eye on this one for a little while, but I'm not sure if my computer can handle it.

Specifically, my key concern is my video card, since I'm running with a Radeon 9550. Everything else is not a problem - I have sufficient disk space, RAM and processing power (although I'm still running on WinXP Service Pack 2, which I'll upgrade). However, the primary sticking point is whether my video card can handle this game. It runs Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion without any problems, so I think it must be fairly good; however, I'm not sure.
Any ideas?

Rath, your GPU is officially supported by the game. Originally, I played it on my old PC, with a GeForce 8800 and it worked just fine.
