I normally don't (since I am usually listening to music through the PC as well) when gaming. But that's usually because I am so sick and tired of hearing the ramble I heard on XBOX LIVE. I am sure I could easily acquire a headset (and since I know neither you, DPX or MI are 12 year old kids who talk about their leet skillz) - I wouldn't mind doing the headset thing.

Maia says I sometimes act like a 12 year-old. :P

Actually, I don't normally use a headset either. Mostly because mine isn't very comfortable for long amounts of time (usually I use my earbuds for sound instead) and because the only game I play where I'm playing with people not in the same room as me would be TF2. I'm kind of self-conscious of using it there, since I don't know the rest of the people on the server (and as you've noted, online strangers can be annoying).

However, I'm fine using it if we all game together because I actually know you guys. We also have a webcam with a good microphone, so I can use the mic on that with my earbuds, if I'm concerned about comfort. There are some areas where we'll have to coordinate our efforts in L4D2, but we could probably still make do with text if people prefer that. Either way, I'm fine with it. :)

So I have been playing the last few days off and on... (sirtawmis is the name on Steam)...

And finally passed the mall portion with the gassing of the car... talk about a nightmare to pass.

Then we did "Survivor" and passed it... Then "No Mercy" and passed it... and did one or two others that we were rocking ... (the one with the boat...)... the one where you run across the freeway was a freaking nightmare... couldn't see where to go in all the congested cars.... and I was right near the end when a tank appeared and threw a rock on me, crippling me... lol... my team mates left me behind... LOL

The best and most efficient way to pass those "gas up the car before a tank appears and kills everyone" scenes is to collect the gas canisters that are furthest away first. By grabbing the gas that's placed far away, you'll get that gas into the car (or later, generators for a bridge) before the tank shows up. When it does, you'll only have the closest gas canisters to grab, which is pretty easy, even with a tank tossing boulders at you.

Maia and I figured out the above the hard way. :P

Are you playing L4D or L4D2? Because the mall level (with the gas tanks) is part of the "Dead Center" campaign in L4D2, whereas the "No Mercy" campaign is in the original L4D.

I don't remember any campaigns or individual maps called "Survivor." There might be some player-made mods that're named that.

Do you mean survival mode? That's an entirely different game mode from playing the actual story-based campaign.

It's L4D2. Because I don't have L4D1. Only the mall/gas one was - as far as I know campaign. When we did the Last Survivor and No Mercy one, the guy controlling the server brought those up. They were different characters (4 characters still, but this time, for example, the female was white), and Couch, Nick and uh the Hill Billy guy are not there... it's the girl, Bill, and two others, whose names I can't recall. But all within L4D2.

DPX, final DLC for L4D1 which finishes off the storyline for the original survivors is also available for L4D2 playable as the original survivors and they also brought over No Mercy and possibly a couple other L4D1 maps.

I knew about the DLC (Maia and I have played it), but I had no idea they also brought over some of the L4D campaigns/maps into L4D2. The only part I knew of was "The Sacrifice."

It was neat to see the L4D crew with some of the L4D2 weapons. Maia really likes melee weapons, specifically the katana. You guys should see her charge head, slicing and dicing zombies. :P

Tawmis, the girl is Zoey and the other two guys are Louis and Francis.

Actually, I just looked it up and only The Sacrifice and No Mercy were carried over. Still not sure what Last Survivor is. Must be a fanmade one.

BTW, has anyone played I Hate Mount4ins yet? That's some craziness right there!

I might have the name wrong ... it's the one if Bill sacrifices himself, you get an achievement called "Kill Bill." The one where you have to turn on... I think it's three generators?

Yeah, Maia and I tried it. We didn't think it was very good, especially since the crux of the campaign was simply overloading the map with zombies.

I think that's "The Sacrifice." According to the L4D canon, Bill is supposed to die (as evidenced by his bloody body in L4D2), but when actually playing the game, ANYONE can sacrifice themselves.

Maia and I almost completed that campaign, but failed when everything got too chaotic. Since we had to redo that area, we basically said "screw it!" and went off to play TF2. We'll come back at some point, but we still have the rest of L4D2 to complete.

I've never played it yet so that would be fun. I've got a 2-week holiday time coming up from school starting on the 20.

Dear god, not the gas tank and generators again! We were running around like chickens with our heads cut off because we couldn't find the controls for the bridge. That seems to be a theme for us.

However, playing it with two actual people may help a great deal. I know that DPX has finals next week. I also have a business trip the week after next, but I'm sure between all our schedules we can work out something.

MI already added us on Steam, but just so Tawmis knows who we are, DPX is DeadPoolX (surprise, surprise) and I'm Virtuelle.
