The trailer is nice - especially the beginning, since the end is way too kitsch for my tastes -, but I've seen someone playing the first game and I remember being hugely unimpressed by it.

FPS aren't for everyone. Normally not my thing. But I absolutely love Gears of War.

Gears of War is an FPS? I thought it was a third-person shooter...

You are correct, it is technically a 3rd Person Shooter. I call all the games like that FPS (Gears of War, Halo, etc) because I am not sure I have ever heard the term TPS.

I've heard the term third-person shooter. Not very regular, though. You could just say "shooter". But I guess that's too long to write. I've never personally seen those two types of games as one genre.
