Was just going to post I got this last night!! All thanks to Collector's kindness!

I am attending a concert tonight - but tomorrow will probably install it. My external drive crashed (a few weeks ago) but I managed to use software to get most of what I wanted. But now it's completely dead (not even recognizable anymore). So last night I was reinstalling all my Sierra games back onto my new external (which I will be backing up more frequently). One of the things I lost is ALL the mp3s I had grabbed and organized from Quest Studio's website....

I actually dug through my back up DVDs... and found 90% of the music I had thrown onto a DVD at some point! So there's still some that I need to find and download - but got most back.

Don't forget that there are things here that are not on Quest Studios.

I didn't really care for The Longest Journey, but I know a lot of people really liked it (including Maia). I haven't played Dreamfall yet, so I can't really comment on it.

The one thing I do know is that Dreamfall has a relatively tough control scheme. It seems to work better if you use a gamepad, instead of the traditional mouse-and-keyboard combo.

I was very comfortable with mouse + keyboard, at least after I inverted the mouse rotation ;)

I did really love The Longest Journey. At the time, it was a good-looking game with a beautiful soundtrack and great voice acting. The worlds of Stark and Arcadia really appealed to me. Like some have complained, I found it a bit restricting and the dialogues were a little long at times. In something interactive like a game, the dialogue should be more interactive. Overall, it was a good game and a really involving experience.

Unlike a lot of people, I really enjoyed Dreamall as well. It was different than TLJ, but that wasn't a bad thing. Perhaps the fact that I had heard so much negative response to it made me have low expectations by the time I played it.

The environs were quite attractive in it, but occasionally the texture mapping wasn't very well done. I liked the conspiracy story and the characters, but I was disappointed by the story leaving some loose ends. I actually liked the variety of puzzles in the game. No one puzzle-type seemed to appear too often or felt out of place. The sneaking, the action, and the mini-games were manageable (perhaps because I have more experience playing action/sneaking games than some adventure gamers) and none of the puzzles were frustrating or illogical.

Although it was good in the beginning of the game, I found as it progressed, the game started to suffer from the too-long dialogue of the first game. Perhaps April is just long-winded. ;)

Anyway, I enjoyed both games very much and I would absolutely love to see the story-arc resolved in a third.

Isn't there supposed to be a third installment? It really was left hanging enough for one.

I enjoyed both TLJ and Dreamfall...tho I realized after playing Dreamfall that I really need to play TLJ again to understand how they transition.

The third has not been done, yet. I'm not sure how far into development it might be.

Hey, Tawm, have you started TLJ, yet?

Dreamfall: Chapters seems to be blocked in development, since Funcom had been busy with another game, Age of Conan if I don't recall wrong.

Perhaps if Age of Conan is successful (a difficult task, considering the competition of Guild Wars and World of Warcraft), Funcom might be able to use the revenue generated to fund Dreamfall: Chapters.

Last night... and was up all night playing it. And immediately realized - all this time I have been confusing TLJ with Amber - Journeys Beyond.

Amber is a really amazing game, with a great atmosphere - it was really spooky! :?

Let us know what do you think of the *real* Longest Journey while you play it! ;)

Jafa has a new installer to make Amber playable on XP/Vista

I think Dreamfall was partially funded by the Norwegian government, so perhaps they will contribute for the third installment as well.
