I think you misunderstood me. I got that you are not using phpBB, but most forum software allows converting/importing databases from other board software to theirs. Sometimes this does not go that smoothly and is usually only done when it is essential to preserve the old database. Even then, a lot of sites just turn the old boards into read only and start the new board from scratch.
