Long story short, they didn't use any special effects or anything; just took the girl, combed her hair forward, and made her face a little darker (so it was harder to see) and put her in a hotel hallway. Watch what happens...

Apparently a lot of people have seen too many ghost movies. There was nothing inherently scary about it, yet...

It would have never occurred to me that there was supposed to be anything supernatural about her.

I wonder if some of those people were just startled to see someone. But kudos to her acting: I'd be crying with laughter after the first one.

Yes I have, but why would I automatically think of something supernatural when I see a little girl with long dark hair, pulled forward or not? I don't freak when I see someone in a goalie mask or see a child riding a trike in a hallway.

Well, I think between the lighting and such - and her holding that beat up doll (they show a close up of it) - and standing pretty much completely alone (the hallway did not appear all that well illuminated; which may have been done for this filming).

I'm ashamed to admit it, but I would have screamed and then run. Unfortunately, as much as they fascinates, ghosts scare the hell out of me and, while I think the American remake of The Ring is quite mediocre, the image of a pale child, with thick black hair pulled forward, clad in white, is a powerful one and since I'm easily impressed that girl would have terrified me!
