And given all the negative criticisms surrounding "Spider-man 3," I guess the producers were a little desperate when they made the decision to restart the whole thing.

While I never thought SM3 was great, I certainly disagree with a lot of people who say it was terrible. For the third movie in a series, it wasn't too bad at all.

Personally, I don't mind them changing actors. I grew up with so [...] many variations on Clark Griswold's children that I'm used to it.

"Hey kids, there's Big Ben again! Parliament!"

I'm more in favor of the old school "James Bond" approach where when the franchise becomes stale, you just swap out actors and throw the hero into a new adventure. No need to recycle the origin story over and over again. Otherwise, we'd never see James Bond get out of basic training.

Or there might be a good explanation as to why James Bond changes all the time.

I suspect that the rushed reboot is also, at least in part due to the studio wanting to hang on to the rights for it. If they didn't develop something within a set time period the rights would go back to Marvel. A Marvel which is also busy churning out movies.

HAH. I love that James Bond theory. It actually has the movies make sense. God I hope the new Bond movie gets made because there has to be more of Craig Bond in the world. *swoon*

My James Bond question is: if they're all different guys, does MI6 only recruit agents who prefer their drinks shaken, not stirred?

I enjoyed the movie more than I hated it. I mean - yeah, I don't like any part where Aunt May shows up and tells a story, and I found Harry's amnesia side-plot completely unnecessary. Still, the action and effects were great, the basic plot-line was decent enough, Bruce Campbell was awesome, and dare I say it - I laugh every time I see Spider-man dance, and I would never want that ever removed from the movie. I found the rest of the movie just suffered from bad pacing, especially during the crying moments.

That's exactly how I feel about SM3.
