I think this is one of those things where a program can work great for some people and not for others.
I've never had a false positive with Avast, but I've have issues with anti-virus programs I've used in the past that other people claim worked perfectly for them.

Hey Collector, your installer ran perfectly except for one thing... Ad-Aware. Ad-Aware gave a false positive on the moon.exe file and quarantined it. That was just the last of a few annoyances so I uninstalled Ad-Aware and re-installed Killing Moon. Voila, cd-less play so far. Thanks, Mr. C.

False positive. Nobody else has had any trouble with it. Many here use it all of the time. Else it got infected on your machine.
