Re: The Silver Lining (KQ Fan Game).
That's what I am saying - I wonder what deal TSL struck that they were still able to proceed and use the characters (clearly from KQ) - all they had to do was drop the "King's Quest" portion out of the name. Like I wonder if I made a Leisure Suit Larry 4: Beautiful Beach Babes in Bikinis - and if t...

Re: Broken Sword
Don't forget that these are supported by ScummVM, too. I believe there there's also a copy of the first two Broken Sword games on the Gameboy Advanced. That's an outdated system nowadays, but GBA games can be played on the Nintendo DS. I have no idea about the compatibility with the Wii, but you ar...

Re: What are your thoughts on real life Voodoo?
Marie Laveau's in New Orleans is mentioned. Clearly, some people DO believe in it. Me? Well, I'm too cynical by nature to put much store in it. But it certainly makes for a good story. As far as the magical component of voodoo is concerned, I think most of it had to do with "believing it's true." M...

Re: News of Day
I have no words... And the idea of a secret Donald/Ivana Trump son... think of how much rich would he be! That assumes the assets go to him when they're both dead. As it is, I know Trump has a daughter (apparently she helps her father out in The Apprentice ), but since she's an adult now,...

Re: Still Life
I didn't think it was bad per se, but the characters didn't appeal to me. Something else to watch out for is that Still Life uses StarForce.

Re: Sierra Game Demos
DPX just has a low tolerance, I think. :D It's a given that the graphics aren't going to be the best (considering when it was made - and since he's seen the demo) - and yes, it's a typey game, and yes things keep moving while you type - but I am not sure why that would be a problem (having played G...

Re: Hmmm. What do you think of this?
<just nips in to take the Umlaut from "Frau"> There we go. And it's always fascinated me that, in spite of the natural logic of it, Mädchen is not a feminine noun. Its associated definite article is "Das" - it's neutral. Das Mädchen. Strange, isn't it? Any language with a neutral form is bound to b...

Re: (how in Carman Sandiago do I use floppies)
As I said, 3.5" diskette drives can be found somewhat easily. The real trick is acquiring a 5.25" diskette drive (and then making sure it not only works, but that it's also compatible with your PC).abyss wrote:I need a floppy drive to play floppies. 5.25 inch and 3.5 inch floppies are what I plan to use.

Re: (how in Carman Sandiago do I use floppies)
I can't find the floppy drive on my computer which makes floppies useless. How do I insert floppies. Can someone please help. Well... does your PC even have a floppy drive? Many modern computers don't have one since they're so rarely used now. The good news is that if you're trying to access 3.5" d...

Re: Sierra Game Demos
Something to remember about Gold Rush! is that it uses the old AGI engine, which means the graphics are pretty bad and the action continues to move while you type. It's the last part that tends to frustrate me now. Back in 1988, when it was released, that didn't seem so bad (every Sierra game of tha...

Re: Movies?, movies!
I'm quite interested in Passchendaele, which is a war movie covering a very bloody and difficult battle in World War I. The unique thing about this movie is that it shows Canadian troops, as opposed to British (which Canada is usually grouped with), American, German or Japanese.

Re: Hmmm. What do you think of this?
I'm a little surprised that Gabriel would call Gerde "fraülein." Technically speaking, only a very young woman would be called that, whereas a woman who's a little older (and I mean in her 20s), would be referred to as a "fraü." The word "fraü" can mean a multitude of things, such as "wife," "Mrs. o...

Re: Which one would YOU be?
DPX, we had those in Pennsylvania. They ARE pretty creepy and fast! From what I can tell, house centipedes tend to like colder climates. I know they exist in Canada and as for the U.S., they're in states like Oregon, Washington (the state, not DC), Pennsylvania and New York. It might also be that t...

You meant "Ivana Trump," right? There's a gender difference there.AndreaDraco wrote:Oh, yes... I actually wanted to talk about Obama's victory, but it felt right to have a place where to talk about any news we want to.

Re: Which one would YOU be?
Spiders are even worse than the green abomination! I hate spiders. But even worse than spiders -- according to Maia -- are "house centipedes." I've seen the regular garden variety every so often in Canada (never Texas, however), but fortunately, I've never had to deal with a "house centipede." From...
