Contraption Maker offered for FREE this weekend!

Contraption Maker -- a game that's a lot like the Incredible Machine or Sid & Al's Incredible Toons -- is free this weekend on the developer's website. This is a stand-alone copy (that's presumably DRM-free) being offered, not a Steam key. If you're interested in getting a fully legal free copy, the...

Re: What are you playing now?

I've been playing a lot of Marvel Heroes 2015 lately. It's basically a free-to-play action-RPG set in the Marvel universe. My two main characters are Iron Man and Deadpool. Maia's using Black Widow right now, but she's looking at getting either Psylocke, Ms Marvel, or Scarlet Witch as well. It's a ...

Re: What are you playing now?

Yeah, The Talos Principle is pretty cool. It doesn't have Portal's sense of humor or oddball characters, but it's a good FPS/Puzzle game nonetheless. Re: OpenOffice or LibreOffice? Apples or oranges?

I use LibreOffice, and I like it. My preference is still Microsoft Office, but I don't feel like paying for it, so my options are pirate it (which I won't do) or get a free office suite. Obviously, I opted for the latter. Oh and Rath, the reason running two anti-virus programs can be bad is because ...

Re: King's Quest 1984 vs 1983 (PCjr)

I can see why they got rid of the overlay. It's an extra expense to create and it's really of no use to the game (unlike in flight sims, which used to have keyboard overlays to help the player know which button to push to do whatever they needed).

Re: Hero-U

One of the Kickstarter projects I backed just finished, so while I was collecting the Steam key I was guaranteed, I decided to check on Hero-U. Do you guys realize that I backed the game back on November 8, 2012? The original release was projected for 2013. Now I know games often take longer than or...

Re: King's Quest by the Odd Gentlemen (Trailer inside!)

But it seems like it's one large interactive movie (sort of like Dragon's Lair... or am I insane in feeling that way?) Ugh... don't start with that. There are more than a few asshats in the Sierra Gamers Facebook group who're proclaiming the new KQ is nothing more than a "Dragon's Lair clone." I kn...

Re: King's Quest III - The Pain is all coming back to me.

the inside speculation is that Scott Murphy that was responsible for what was in the WORDS.TOK in KQ2. If you look at some of the responses in the comments section of that Cracked article, there are tons of people who think that because Roberta Williams was the "creator and designer" that means she...

Re: King's Quest III - The Pain is all coming back to me.

At least KQ3 didn't do what KQ2 did for its female characters vocab list. Yeah, the female character vocabulary list in KQ2 was pretty bad. Either some programmer had a real problem with women, or he thought adding those words in would be funny. For anyone who doesn't know what we're talking about,...

Yeah, it's a large chunk of a completely nondescript image that could be anything from desert dunes to the inside of someone's intestinal tract.

Re: Hardware question...

Truth be told, you don't save much by building your own system unless you can get parts at wholesale prices. That said, by building your own system you get to choose what you want. That's a big deal as many vendors will skimp on certain components or use proprietary parts. I remember when Maia and I...

Re: Hardware question...

Before you start ordering new systems and whatnot, let's find out if your current motherboard would be compatible with a video card upgrade. It might be, in which case all you'd need to do is replace the video card and install some more RAM. Granted, your processor would still be older, but for the ...

Re: Hardware question...

You're going to need a new video card. From what I understand about ME:SoM, it's very GPU dependent. Just to be sure, I checked how the Radeon HD 5670 compares against the GTX 660 (which is what the guy in the YouTube video I linked to is using), and the GTX 660 is a lot better than the Radeon HD 56...

Re: Hardware question...

This video below was recorded by a guy who has a very similar setup to yours (it might actually be the same, but I don't know what you have in your PC other than your processor) and it seems to run quite well. You won't be able to max out everything, but you still should be able to play at around me...
