Re: Heroine's Quest questions... please help! :-(
Something else to consider is that maybe Heroine's Quest had an update through Steam, and if Rath was playing offline, the update wouldn't have downloaded and installed. Maybe the update fixed whatever the problem was.

Re: Heroine's Quest questions... please help! :-(
I can't imagine that's the issue, as no game on Steam has ever made its completion dependent on gaining achievements. I assume you've already attempted to verify the game cache from within Steam, right? If verifying the game cache didn't solve anything (and it often does), then the only way to be su...

Re: Space Quest 3 3D
I was about to download the tech demos (for both SQ3 and ROTD), but the download speed was atrocious. We're talking a good half hour to download something as small as 350 MB. I know that's not my connection since it's working fast everywhere else (and I just tested it to be sure), so I'll have to c...

I haven't pre-ordered yet because I'm hoping I can get a free copy to review.Spikey wrote:Don't know if it was posted already but pre-orders are up everywhere, it grants you bonus content it seems; a playable epilogue.
If I can't get a review copy before July 28, I'll just pre-order it.

Re: King's Quest by the Odd Gentlemen (Trailer inside!)
That's GoG, not Steam. The only time a game was removed from Steam was because a developer went bankrupt or specifically chose to remove it. And the other Quest games are still up so it's doubtful Valve had anything to do with it. Especially seeing as the new KQ is coming. That seems like something...

Re: King's Quest by the Odd Gentlemen (Trailer inside!)
Apparently they also pulled the original KQ collection from Steam at the same time....I can only guess as to their reasoning for that. I think it's retarded. Valve's reasoning might be as simple as their ability to sell it on Steam expired. Other games have disappeared from Steam before, not becaus...

Re: Playing games on the PC is making a comeback
The real driving force that's been making the PC a viable platform again is Steam. The article Collector linked to even says as much. So what's causing a change? In a single word: Steam. Three out of every four times a game is sold for a PC, it's sold through an app and website called Steam. Part so...

Re: 3D Printers... how do they work? And DO they work?
Hmmm... the thing I was getting at was that metal knives etc. are far more plentiful (and easier to get) than creating a plastic one. They're also much cheaper than getting a 3D printer, and quicker too (as BBP pointed out). Here's the thing: if you go into a store or go online an order a bunch of ...

Re: 3D Printers... how do they work? And DO they work?
Two things: 1 You'd still need a metal firing pin for a plastic gun; 2 3D printers aren't suitable for mass production. They work very slowly. 1. You're absolutely right and anyone who's designed a working 3D-printed gun has that covered. That said, the gun may still blow up in that person's hand, ...

Re: 3D Printers... how do they work? And DO they work?
As you've pointed out, though, people have used pressure cookers or pots in the past to serve as a container for the explosive. Given that, is it even necessary for them to use a 3D printer? It seems like even a large plastic box would do the job. [...] As for knives... again, knives are available ...

Re: 3D Printers... how do they work? And DO they work?
OK, that makes a little more sense. Hmm... DPX, what do you mean by "layering material over and over"? I can picture what you mean - like putting layers of lasagne over each other, I guess? Imagine slicing any object into tons of thin layers. That's basically what a 3D printer does, only in reverse...

Re: 3D Printers... how do they work? And DO they work?
3D printers work by layering material over and over. At the moment, 3D printers seem to be limited to various forms of plastic, but in the future there might be ones that can do metal or cloth. As for firearms, it's theoretically possible to make a working gun in a 3D printer, but given the quality ...

Re: Contraption Maker offered for FREE this weekend!
Thanks for letting us know, DPX! :D I headed over... and it is quite a lot like TIM... but their website can't handle any more signups today (which is Sunday for me). :( They say that their website will be back up for signups tomorrow, but by then, the weekend will be over. Oh well... Rath, if you ...
