Re: Merry Christmas!

BBP and Tawmis, I'm so sorry to hear your Christmases weren't so good. *sends hugs and positive vibes* I hope the rest of the holiday season goes better for you! :) I did three concerts leading up to Christmas - Handel's Messiah (the 4th in 4 years); a nice carols concert (including some traditional...

Re: Grim Fandango

I hated Grim Fandango . I'm sure it was a good game, but the control scheme turned me off so much I couldn't play it. I prefer point-and-click controls for Adventure Games. Same here. Hmm. I know the controls aren't very easy to start with, but after a while you get used to it and enjoy the story, ...

Re: Some Christmas Cheer!

*draws katana, proceeds to commit hara-kiri* :P I actually performed that song with a local choir last Sunday, doing it in 4-part harmony with a very, very good tenor lead (who also sings for the Victorian Opera and Opera Australia, so you get an idea of how good he is)... ;) This guy, on the other ...

Grim Fandango

Does anyone remember this game? ;) I think it's almost 10 years old, and perhaps rather obscure, but it's still one of the best adventure games I've ever seen.

What do you think? :)

Aw, poor Roger. For a minute I thought he might open that present from Sludge. ;)

Glad to hear the project's nearly done! Can't wait. :)

Re: Best Adventure Game Sidekick! (Final Battle)

Hey, give the poor kid a break. She spends much of GK1 taking care of the shop and an overgrown kid on a bike. She's overworked, underpaid and mostly unappreciated (by Gabe most of the time - by Bruno, certainly). Then Gabe gets to fly off to Germany, while Grace has to stay behind and mind the shop...

Re: Revisiting Old-School Text Adventures as a Jaded Modern Game

*L* You know, I spent a little time reading that "Top 5 reasons why Megatron should never let Starscream live" thing on cracked.com... too true... which led me to investigate other places on cracked.com. Very, very funny - though far too big. How big is cracked.com, anyway? ;)

Grace, mainly because I've never played Torin's Passage.

Re: Box Office Bust

I tried playing LSL:BOB for a little while (about 10-15 minutes). I thought Larry's opening line in the intro video was atrocious and the whole thing was a poor platformer (Larry going up ladders and jumping across gaps to clean graffiti? WTF?) It didn't grab my attention at all, and the 'adventure'...

Re: Grand Theft Auto IV -- DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!

I don't care much for the concept of GTA (I find it obnoxious, personally), but I think what Rockstar did is much more so. WTF? Why in the name of sanity do you *have* to download a service pack and sign into two different services just to play a game? :| This goes beyond a slight intrusion... forci...

Let's see... how about this? Deekin (at least in NWN1) is a great source of innocent merriment. ;)

Re: Hmmm... thoughts on Ad Avis

Hmmm... well, Ad Avis Jr. (unless I can find him a better name?) only starts out as "too evil". (After all, with a dad like Addy, how can anyone not be evil?) ;) But he quickly learns and soon, the evillest thing he does is play humourous and humiliating practical jokes on people that annoy him. >;)...
