Re: Mass Effect
I didn't know you could re-use characters, but leveling up doesn't take that long if you catch all the side-quests. I was a soldier both times because that better fits my preferred style of gameplay. I just pump all my XP into assault rifles, armor, and combat training and I'm set for the whole game...

Re: Mass Effect
Just finished it on Renegade.
I love how even if you make one psychotic decision after another, everyone will justify your actions and say things like "I'm sure you did your best" or "I trust your judgment." Even if it involves executing unarmed people who just surrendered, it "needed to be done."

In both cases, fear and love can do some pretty impressive stuff with adrenaline.

Depression is anger turned inwards, so it probably counts.

Re: How to survive any RPG...
If I had the programming skills - I'd be doing this. Just reading that list I already came up with a few quest ideas and how it'd work in a game. Yeah, that list is a veritable treasure trove of ideas. That's a project I wouldn't mind being a part of myself. I can already picture angry housewives c...

I just left a favorable review for your game on my site. I'll see if I can point a few other adventurers your way.

Re: Which emotion is most powerful, do you think?
I wouldn't want to downplay the power of love itself. Much like fear and anger, it was a way of making people do irrational and sometimes superhuman things. But like you said, it's very rare and often mistaken for other emotions, so it's difficult to really determine how powerful it is. Hollywood ma...

Re: Which emotion is most powerful, do you think?
The most powerful one is fear, followed closely by anger. They're the hardest to control and can easily override any current emotions with devastating results.

I was thinking the exact same thing!
There's never enough humor in games today. Especially RPGs. I think that genre is long overdue.

You're exactly right on the Greek mythology theme. That's a game I wouldn't mind trying over again someday.

Nah. He has to be clutching his chest after just having saved the world. It doesn't count if he was sitting on his throne while someone else saved it.Collector wrote:Clutching his chest as the cap flies through the air. Hmm... sound familiar.

I think if it all started with King Graham, it has to end with King Graham. The old guy needs to have at least one more adventure before passing on his cap to someone else.

Re: How to survive any RPG...
Holy cow, that took forever to read. All true, though. I remembered a few that weren't on either list. -Geographically, a scorching desert and ice palace are often within walking distance of each other. -The sexiest woman on your team with the skimpiest leather clothes and biggest breasts is never s...

Re: Mass Effect
Ah, finished it last night. Very satisfying.
I've already beaten the game as the charismatic paragon saint, John Shepard, so now I'm taking a crack at it as the threateningly foul-mouthed renegade racist, Jane Shepard.
It's funny how being bad guy makes the game go flying by.
