Re: Industry Award.
Going only by the official releases, I'd put KQ3 below KQ4 and KQ6. If we also included AGDI's KQ3 Redux, however, I'm no longer sure about that ranking. The remake has great graphics and music, and it did a lot to smooth over some of the weak parts of the original KQ3 (e.g. needing to walk up the m...

Re: Industry Award.
All of the games have their flaws, but I very much agree that, if we're only talking about the official games, 4 and 6 are the best ones. KQ6 is just beautiful, and there are some very touching moments.

Re: Industry Award.
I don't need an excuse not to have played it or not to play it now. Rather, I would need a reason to play it, and I just don't see it. It's a very primitive game, even with that remake. I have no personal associations it. And given the potential deaths and unwinnable states, I don't think I'd have f...

Re: Industry Award.
There are different contexts, in which terms like "old" mean different things. If someone is excitedly talking about a game they thing was just released, and it turns that game was actually released half a year ago, that does make it "old". On the other hand, if we're talking about games in general,...

Re: Question about DOSBox and mounting and installing?
If two files have the exact same hash the files are identical. That's overstating it a bit. If someone is deliberately trying to get a hash collision, it's possible for them to do so (especially if you aren't also checking the file size). Just an MD5 value comparison of two files isn't good enough ...

Re: Question about DOSBox and mounting and installing?
It's a way to check if files are identical. If they are, they'll have the same MD5 value. If they aren't (e.g. because the transfer was incomplete or corrupted), they almost certainly won't have the same MD5 value.

It's an easy one, but if I said where it is, I'd have to post the next image.

Re: Dagger of Amon Ra play! - Tawmis
GK1 had a more complicated interface than the usual Sierra games: it split the talk cursor into separate talk and ask cursors, and the interact cursor into separate pickup, open/close, interact, and move cursors. So instead of the usual five cursors (walk, look, interact, talk, inventory-item), it ...

Re: Dagger of Amon Ra play! - Tawmis
(I think I ended up playing that way, too. But it's still bad if the right-clicking method becomes too awkward to be useable. One clever thing Heroine's Quest did for the multiple-cursors interface was to have keyboard shortcuts for immediately switching to a particular cursor. Sierra games already ...

Re: A Return To My Bane. (Codename: Iceman)
Instead of going through that field, head two screens to the left, and there's an entrance to the cave behind a rock. Apparently, you can also get a bottle on that screen if you didn't win one. So in that instance, the game is actually surprisingly forgiving.
