Re: Question for people who use GOG (Good Old Games)...
I believe I heard that some Sierra games did receive an update that moves them from DOSBox to ScummVM. I don't know if this also means a removal of some files from the game directories but if it does it's doubly sad. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I haven't downloaded any new versions in quite a ...

Re: King's Quest VII - Chapter 5 - The Dog.
That was a frustrating design choice. You can also encounter it in Chapter 4, when Rosella needs to break into Malicia's house. Sometimes I get it first try, other times I have to enter/exit 20 or so times before I can go in. The trigger factor definitely could've been programmed so it was less freq...

Re: Creation and Modification Timestamps
Thanks for the tip about the file changer. I'd forgotten that I'd actually installed a shell extension which does the same thing. So yes, I have the option to restore the original timestamps, which is great. I would be curious to learn, though, how and why different programs handle them differently....

Creation and Modification Timestamps
This is incredibly nitpicky, I know, but I thought I'd ask out of curiosity. For the record, as it may vary by operating system, I currently use Windows 7. When copying files, either from a CD or folder, the "date modified" timestamp remains the same as the original but the "date created" will refle...

Re: Question for people who use GOG (Good Old Games)...
It would be nothing for them to include both and given how large many of their games are the added size of including both DOSBox and SVM would be rather trivial. While my preference leans heavily in favor of DOSBox, sometimes SVM can be the best answer. I include both SVM and DOSBox with my KQ6 ins...

Re: Question for people who use GOG (Good Old Games)...
In some cases they do provide both versions. Willy Beamish and Freddy Pharkas have both the floppy and CD versions included. I agree that it would be nice to have a floppy version of Loom. I thought I'd heard about a few examples where they had both. Thanks for the clarification. I hope some day th...

Re: Question for people who use GOG (Good Old Games)...
I love that GOG is all about being DRM free. It's the main reason I use it as much as I do. My main quibble (and this is probably not their fault, but maybe licensing issues with IP holders) is that they only tend to offer the "main" version of a game. For example, if a title received both a floppy ...

Fun assortment of characters this year, and not all easy to guess. Good job, everyone!
