Re: How do you say "GUI?"

I've always said "gooey" as well. I think there is more dispute over how to pronounce "gif". I've always pronounce it like "gift" without the "t" since it is the same "g" sound as in "graphics", but even the creators pronounce it "jif". I think because it looks like a legit word (has vowels mixed in...

Re: The Rescue of Roger Wilco

This is very well done. Given the AGI look of the video, one thing I'd like to see is the music "downgraded" to Tandy 3-voice.

Re: Star Wars / Star Trek Discussion (SciFi In General)

Wow I never noticed that before. I guess that change was made in The Motion Picture, eh? That's what I've always assumed. I think I read in a Star Trek Technical Manual or something that they adopted the Enterprise insignia because it was the most illustrious ship in the fleet, but like DPX said, n...

Re: Star Wars / Star Trek Discussion (SciFi In General)

Also, the USS Discovery is insanely large. All figures I've seen online put a Crossfield-class starship at 750 meters long. In comparison, a Constitution-class starship (the original USS Enterprise) is only 295 meters long. To further put this into perspective, a Galaxy-class starship (USS Enterpri...

Re: Star Wars / Star Trek Discussion (SciFi In General)

I'm fine with changes to the look. Yes, the controls and displays look nothing like TOS-era. Yes, the "Starfleet" emblem should only be for the Enterprise. Yes the uniforms should be what we saw in "The Cage" (which they kind of address in Episode 1 of Season 2, but they still use the TOS-era unifor...

Re: What are the things that make Sierra games memorable?

MI brought up a lot of good points. I think nostalgia is a strong influence. But I think one driver for any game is whether or not it gives us something new or interesting. I never saw the point of Top 100 Games of All Time lists. Older games have a hard time competing since technology is constantly...

Re: The Hero-U Help Thread

All righty then ... *cracks knuckles* ;) Electives. The first thing about electives is making sure that you are eligible to take them. If you pay attention in the rogue class and pass the first test, you can take an elective on day 7. You have three options: Magic, Science, or First Aid. If you wan...

Re: The Hero-U Help Thread

I've been playing this for the last few weeks. I think it's okay. I'm at the midterm break. The problem I'm having is that I feel like I keep missing things. Like they keep mentioning electives that I can take, but I seem to have missed how I was supposed to do them. I'm also not sure how to find th...

Re: Star Wars Discussion (was Why SIERRA GAMES Failed (And How They Could Have Succeeded))

On the subject of Star Trek Discovery (or its far more entertaining abbreviation, STD) I think the generally accepted abbreviation is DIS to fit the theme of the others (TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY, and ENT). :) On an unrelated note, I'm seeing STI (infection rather than disease) more and more often. But I ...

Re: The Star Wars Like/Dislike.

I was reluctant to get involved with a Star Wars discussion. Truth be told, I've never been that enamored with the franchise. I'm more of a Star Trek fan. Sure, I saw the prequel trilogy in theaters. I only saw the original trilogy on TV. I was only 7 when Return of the Jedi came out but I didn't se...

Re: Non-Sierra Installers and Patches

Had no idea about some of the issues with ScummVM. I know some people here didn't like it, but I didn't quite understand why. I made it my goal to try to get everything to work in a single version of DOSBox. I even got Windows 3.11 working so I could get the better art in KQ6. But there are a few ga...

Re: Sierra Relaunch (Fictional, folks...)

I'd start with King's Quest. King's Quest was always the flagship series and was always the first game to include the newest innovation. It's not my favorite series and may not be other people's series, but it does have the name recognition and there is some marketing wisdom to holding people's favo...
