Re: Star Wars / Star Trek Discussion (SciFi In General)

Next week - three new ideas, all thrown into a hat - rinse and repeat. Let me see what else a random word generator can come up with... This is a show about a funeral where a flock of birds steal somebody's credit card There will also be a ghost . (Nice! It's a ghost story after all!) This is true ...

Re: Star Wars / Star Trek Discussion (SciFi In General)

Lately, one of my late night go-tos whenever my son won't sleep is to put on an episode of "The Next Generation" on Netflix. And I've developed a newfound appreciation for how pleasantly chill and visionary the show really is. It may not be action-heavy, but it doesn't need to be since the show's wr...

Re: Game of Thrones [Spoilers]

I finished the show, and I'm only disappointed that it ended so predictably. Everything went full fan-fiction three seasons ago when they caught up with the books, so the ending didn't surprise or anger me like it did everyone else. Dani goes insane at last minute and becomes the Big Bad, check. Eve...

I imagine Roger's the only one who could die on the character select screen.

I love this so much.

The only finisher I can think of at the moment is a one-liner for Laura.

Re: Steam and GOG sales

I've been following Epic Games since MI recommended it and now they're having their first sale. Their library doesn't seem to be as large as GOG or Steam, but they are discounting $10 off any game $14.99 and up, and are giving away a free game every week during the sale. Worth checking out if only f...

Re: Steam and GOG sales

$2.49 for all 5 Quest for Glory games seems like both an incredible deal and a terrible crime.

Edit: or $3.39 CA, still applies. :)

Re: Other Gaming Companies You're Obsessed With (Past or Present or Both)?

LucasArts and Telltale would be my other favourite adventure game companies as well. Much like Sierra, both released enough games consistently that you can see each respective company's story play out from their early "garage band" years to their "rock star" era before their inevitable descent into ...

Re: If Sierra had made a "Game of Thrones" Game...

Both the fan-video and the toilet look so amazing. "Game of Thrones" really would lend itself to the Sierra formula very well. Would be even more interesting if all the typical Sierra deaths were permanent and the story would just continue from another character.

Re: Dragon Age IV News

Finished "Andromeda" tonight. Or rather, finished it enough. 100% planetary viability, all loyalty missions and planet missions accounted for. Even every planet scanned because I'm apparently a masochist. After getting through the original trilogy, the books, and that James Vega movie, this is my fa...

Re: What are you playing now?

Man, I wish there'd been a more recent version where we could play against Gabriel and Grace... I would love that so much. There's no reason they couldn't make that today either - once the card game aspect is programmed, you could keep adding characters. It would be great for smart phones since "pl...

Re: Dragon Age IV News

Andromeda is like the game I go and play, when I am feeling so great, that I know I need to ruin my mood. One of these years, I believe, I may eventually finish it between my hour sessions of playing and hating myself for even trying. For me, a huge problem with the game is simply the characters. T...

Re: Dragon Age IV News

A heads-up that I'm waist-deep into Andromeda right now. So far, I'm on board with the "I see where they're going with this, but it doesn't work" crowd, but coming off of DA3, I at least find the gameplay and sidequests more engaging. I wish DA3 had more jump-jets. Would have made shard collecting w...

Re: We finally took a photo of a black hole

They've named the black hole 'Powehi', a Hawaiian word meaning 'adorned fathomless dark creation'. Good name, considering how few words we've invented to describe such a thing. And it only goes up from here. Imagine if we can get some telescopes onto satellites orbiting Earth with an even bigger "le...
