This patch disk will update Alphabet Blocks Floppy Disk and CD-ROM Version to work on Compaq systems that have multiple sound drivers loaded in Windows.
This patch disk will update Alphabet Blocks Floppy Disk and CD-ROM Version to work on Compaq systems that have multiple sound drivers loaded in Windows.

This patch will only work on some Compaq systems. It will not work with any other computer system. In addition, the patch should only be installed if you are receiving the message "WAVE OUTWRITE ERROR" or "RAVE ERROR- WAVE OUT OPEN MMSYSERR_ALLOCATED" while playing Alphabet Blocks.

This version of AUDBLAST.DRV will resolve the following error that is encountered when running MOTHER GOOSE CD-ROM on 'fast' computers (such as 486s):

Cannot initialize your audio hardware

To use this driver:
  1. Install the game to a writeable drive (such as C:).
  2. Copy AUDBLAST.DRV to the C:\SIERRA\MGCD sub-directory.
  3. Edit the file MGCDINST.CFG in the C:\SIERRA\MGCD.
    sub-directory by changing the line:

    audioDrv= audblast.drv
    to
    audioDrv=c:audblast.drv

These patches will fix all the situations that are known for Island of Dr. Brain.
