Insert Disc 1 of the 2006 King's Quest Collection into your CD-Drive. If the AutoRun starts, close it. This is important, as the AutoRun will cause an error later in the install process. Instead, go to the Start Menu and open "My Computer". Open the CD Drive in "My Computer" and double click on "setup.exe" and click "Next to begin the installation.
At the License Agreement scroll down to the bottom to enable the Accept radio button.
The default install location for the collection is inside the "Program Files" folder. This is a
protected system folder that has proven to cause issues with some of these old games.
Change the location that the collection will be installed into to a location outside of the
"Program Files" folder, such as:
C:\Sierra\King's Quest Collection
to avoid these issues. At the "Install King's Quest Collection(TM) to:" click the Change button.
Click "Install to begin the installation.
After the installer has copied the files from the first disc, it will ask you to insert disc 2. This is where it will error
out if the AutoRun is still running. The AutoRun must be closed before disc 1 is removed. After it finishes
coping files from the second disc, it will ask you to reinsert the first disc.
The Acrobat Reader is optional, but Acrobat is required to view the manual.
Registration can be skipped, as the collection can no longer be registered.
