Lords of the Realm II's original requirements:

Like many of the later Sierra games, Lords of the Realm II has installation problems with the installer not fuctioning with faster PCs or under Windows XP/Vista.
Problem - Setup Hangs:
Setup locks up when you run it.Solution:
Use the New Squrt the Cat Lords of the Realm II Installer by jafa
Problem - Poor Quality / No Sound (Win9x and XP):
The game has no sound or the music is of poor quality when playing the DOS version.Solution 1 (preferred):
Play the game in DOSBox. It also will work with the MT-32 sound module, if you are fortunate to have one.Solution 2:
Use VDMSound. The game work well with VDMSound. The sound will be as good as your audio hardware, and as with DOSBox, it works with the MT-32 sound module.Solution 3:
Play the game with FreeSCI, a third party Interpreter for Sierra's early SCI games.Solution 4 (DOS/Win9x):
Install DOS drivers for your soundcard. Without DOS drivers installed you won't have sound in a DOS window in Windows 9x. If you can't find DOS drivers for your soundcard, there is an alpha (developmental) version of VDMS that you can try.
Problem - No Sound:
You hear no sound during game play, This problem arises where your soundcard driver is not compatible with Direct Sound.Solution 1:
Update your sound card drivers. Your soundcard manufacturer should be able to supply you with up-to-date drivers for your card.
Problem - Constant Clicking Noise:
Sound plays but there is a constant clicking noise in the background. This is a problem appears to happen on some Sound Blaster clones where older soundcard drivers are in use.Solution 1:

The battles crash sometimes when playing with Music OFFSolution 1:
Apply the Lords of the Realm 2 (lotr2103) V1.03 patch.
There are a couple of bugs that Lords of the Realm II has that are not speed dependent.
Problem - Game Crashes When Playing Movie:
Game Crashes when trying to play the movie at the end of a battle. This happens on PCs where the DirectX supplied with graphics card drivers are not compatible.Solution:

Turn Full Screen Mode OFF (from the Options Menu in the game.)Solution:

Problem - Missing "Dplay.dll":
On older systems this message comes up if you have NOT in fact installed the new version of Direct X that shipped with Lords 2.Solution:
Reinstall Direct X, with the "Install Direct X" icon in the Sierra directory.
Problem - Missing Maps In "Play Now":
In the "Play Now" Campaign, every other map seems to be missing.Solution:
Apply the Lords of the Realm 2 (lotr2103) V1.03 patch.
Problem - European Map Crashes:
The map of Europe crashes with some settings from the Custom Game screenSolution:
Apply the Lords of the Realm 2 (lotr2103) V1.03 patch.
Problem - Arrow Buttons Don't Accelerate:
The arrow buttons don't accelerate when trying to buy or sell something.
Solution:
Apply the Lords of the Realm 2 (lotr2103) V1.03 patch.
